Hello all! I have been playing on the new 1.21 SMP world and it has been a blast so far! I do have a suggestion for a feature that I would like to see implemented, and I would love to hear some of your feedback regarding it as well. My idea consists of a simple bell noise or an audible ping that is played once another player mentions either your IGN or eGO username. This could be a toggleable feature for those who don't want to hear the ping, but I think it could be a nice QoL addition. I believe that this would be beneficial because:
  • It directs user's attention towards chat, even if they are focusing on gameplay or crafting, in a chest, etc.
  • If someone is AFK or on another application besides Minecraft, it can prompt them that someone is requesting their attention.
  • For Admin/Staff especially, this could help when assisting players or being asked a question in-game.
Personally, I feel like this would improve overall QoL and allow players to focus on the gameplay, but also prompt them when something requires their attention. There are a lot of messages sent in chat, especially automated ones, so people aren't necessarily always focusing on the in-game chat. This will simply just redirect their attention without distracting them completely from their game.

The whisper command (/w) will play a bell when you receive a message, but in general chat is an interesting idea!

To be honest though, I'm not sure this will work jsut because so many players have longer usernames than what we typically call them. Like, for example we call DrkChocolate by "Drk", and "Filipe (AKA Flippy)" As just Filipe/Flippy.
