I have literally no idea if this is a possible thing on the coding side and server side in CS2, however I think it is decent idea.

On the last server I played JB on (CS:GO), there was a credit system similar to our system. With those credits, you could use the credit shop to buy some cool items for in game. Below are some items that might be good ideas for the credit shop

-Player skins (cartoon characters, the grinch, etc.)
-Tracer colours for bullets
-Foot step effects
-Player trail
-Custom player titles shown above their head and/or in chat
-Player outlines
-Jump effects

There is definitely more items that can be added and I am sure other people of good idea for it.

Not sure this is even possible but thought I would give the idea in the case that it is :)

I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment, but to add a quick response to this: most of these are technically possible (though with quite a few downsides and hacky workarounds from various fronts).

That being said, when implementing any feature, we consider numerous factors, including but not limited to how laggy they may be (both on the server and on players' computers), how they may affect load time, require additional downloads, development time required, and similar. Many cosmetic effects have a significant negative influence on these factors, including (from your examples) player skins, tracers, footstep effects, player trails, jump effects, etc. It's for this reason that we have never added these types of cosmetics (whether as a purchasable item or as a DS perk) and have no current plans to. This was the case in CS:GO as well, where implementing such cosmetics were far easier, more transparent (to the end user), and more performant; so the same counter-reasoning applies double for CS2.

For the remaining non-cosmetic effects:
  • Custom player titles: already exist in the form of DS tags & gang tags (with the display perk)
  • Player outlines: while this likely doesn't have too much overhead, it can be disruptive to gameplay (both for the player themselves and other players), and is unlikely to be implemented as a result. We have something similar in the form of gang colours on special days (where the gameplay impact is more minimal).

I'm going to leave this thread open for a bit for other people to chime in, and in case I have time to write out a more detailed response in the future. Though, such suggestions have already been discussed at length in prior threads.

Makes sense, I figured the case was similar to this just wanted to make the post on the chance it has not been discussed fully or really had much thought brought to it. Thanks anyway!
