HOW TO GET A GOOD FPS RATE
TekBubs' second tutorial.

Alright, in this tutorial we'll find out how to get a better FPS rate.

Alright, are you tired of running through long A and all of a sudden when everything gets hot (A fire-fight..no stupid puns please <3) you're animations get choppy and you end up dying because everything seems as if its moving slower? Thats called FPS, something that depends on your graphics card.

In-Game settings:

For all the brain dead people who can't find the in-game settings, simply press ESC go to Options > Video > Advanced (much <3).

If your settings are on high, try lowering them to medium or low (depending on your graphics) also note that if there is a little asterisk (*) beside the setting, that means Steam has graciously showed you the recommended settings for your rig, and you better listen to it, I had my settings on low and I was getting an FPS of 20-40, put it on high (My rec settings) and now I'm getting 70-150 FPS. Also note that Anti-Aliasing is an FPS EATER! If that's enabled, disable it, and if shadows are enabled, disable that too, its useless. Alright now close the advanced settings and stay in the video tab, look at the screen resolution, is it 1024 x w.e, or higher? try lowering that to 800:600.

Advanced tweaks (ALREADY DONE FOR YOU!!!!)

Alright, this CFG ISN'T MINE! I got it from overclocked. This will GREATLY improve your FPS rate, however if you start noticing some bugs delete it (I doubt you will but PC's are different from one another) Simply copy these commands into your autoexec.CFG located at C:\program files\steam\steamapps\USERNAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg. (If you don't have a CFG file OR don't know how to make one, Ill make a requested tutorial.)

Since the servers tickrate is 66 setting cl_cmdrate to above that will default it to 50 or below. just FYI

ALRIGHT THX...
always want to find a way to avoid the low fps maps

There's also a thing called "money" and besides to have low fps on cs:s your PC truly sucks, you gotta admit that.

This card costs 60 bucks and runs on any stock power supply. If your computer has a PCI express 2.0 Slot this will work. Period. It can function in a system with less than a 300W PSU.

It can max out CS:S without even breaking a sweat. It can probably max out the majority of modern games of 1080 res.

Also, most Intel based comps have a LGA 775 socket so you could also upgrade to a competitive dual core for a really cheap cost margin.

It also goes without saying that DDR2 RAM is extremely cheap.

CS:S' system requirements for good FPS are really minimal. There is really no excuse to have low FPS
