bioshock sounds

can anyone help? for some reason there seems to be sounds messed up in bioshock for me and i was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. like the shotgun is super quit and im not sure if its making any sounds. i think the sounds i hear are the bullets hitting stuff. and just random sounds through out the game just seem to be not there or really quite. so if anyone could help that would be great. i dont know if this was a issue for others or not. i couldnt find anything on google.

I have this game. Try reinstalling. Find your saved games folder and copy it to another part of your computer so you don't lose any progress.

I just put mine in compatibility mode for Windows 2000.
