Mic Initiative

I love team work when I play. I love a chatty team that talks about positions of enemy snipers, MGs, where the assaults are rushing hard. In my opinion teams that utilize the communications most effectively are the teams that win the map despite of talent (to an extent of course..)

I'm curious why some people don't have microphones to chat? I sure there are the few [no sound] people who play, but what about others that don't use a mic? Cheap mics are cheap, ironically. And I would gladly donate some to those who needed them. But there's the real question, how do I know who really needs one and who's just taking a free handout?

If you don't use a mic, why not?

i'm not sure why someone wouldn't get a mic.

i mean, it makes the game about 10 times better. and their only like 20 dollars tops for a cheap one.

personally, i'd love to get a saitek one. 5.1 surround sound... *drools* but it's liek 70 dollars.

NewEgg.com has the cheapest at $1.49 and I'm sure I could find them somewhere bulk a lot cheaper. It wouldn't be a saitek but people would be able to talk instead of type.

Yeah, I've been on Vent a few times since I joined EG, but my microphone broke about 3 weeks ago, and have since kept putting off the purchase of a new one. Note taken though! Cheers.

Of course, theres the other end, where people refuse to use the mic to discuss tactics, but instead drone on, or spam.

But, that is nice of you to offer free mics. I'll contact you when my 5 dollar, 1 and a half year old one breaks.

LOL I know what you mean. My neighbors for the past 8 years have heard me screaming 'WATCH OUT GRENADE! SNIPER IN THE BUSHES! WE NEED TO MOVE THE MG UP!!' They must think I'm having flashbacks...

thats amazing currahee, i use my mic when my parents arent around, they think me using a mic is goin to make a petifile target me. and im like mom, really what is somebody gonna do with your voise and first name? record you and play what you say back in public? big threat. occasionally i just make it look like im talking to myself so that i can talk when they around.

Hah, seeing your guys replies reminds when I use to play CS-Source alot back in my freshman, sophmore days in college....I would always be yelling in my mic at people at the bomb site that would just sit there and daze off and not plant the damn bomb....I would yell "PLANT THE BOMB!" I usually played late at night and sometimes when I forgot my roommate was sleeping I would yell it out and wake him up, he still messes with me about it, whenever I'm playing a video game or something he'll ask me if the bomb has been planted yet...lol.

That's hilarious Nittany Lion. CS was what made me transition from loud speakers to headphones. At least with speakers people hear the war noises and assume a game or that I'm having REALLY vivid flashbacks. But the whole 'Terrorists Win' over and over and over again, 24 hours a day (recovering CS addict) blaring through the speakers, started questions.

I'm not trying to be super generous, what motivates me most is selfishness. I want to hear chatter on those servers!

I don't for a couple reasons.

1)I've tried to solve/asked around about my problem with people (more than one) talk at the same time, or full server and chatter... I lock up, get buffer overflow, or lag.

2)The chatter about positions and stuff, doesn't bother me at all. Its like you have a com in the field, you'd use that in times of war right?

"Well, what about after you've died, isn't that cheating?"

No. In DoD you do not die, Counterstrike unless a death match... you die. Consider it you are merely wounded (which technically you are) and when you get back to camp, you tell them the last place you saw them... right?

Then once back to 100%, back to the battlefield!

But to answer #2... I consider it trying to fight without my com, no incoming or outgoing.

I've a mic, but don't use it all the time. When I play late at night I don't want to wake my son and I prefer to just play the game with no sound. But I agree...it adds a nice dimension to the game.

I got a mic, but i usally don't use it since my voice hasn't matured yet. If I do, people start asking questions and start commented. Sigh -_-'
