I had trouble seeing my crosshair in dust2(bright map). So I did a little test, went to options, crosshair options, checked Translucent, went and pointed gun up at the sun(in dust2) and I could not see the crosshair at all. Then I unchecked Translucent(which means transparent or alpha) and pointed at the sun and still could not see the crosshair, argh.

Went to console, typed cvarlist cl_crosshair, crosshair variables came up. Then I noticed that the cl_crosshairalpha was at 200, and if you know anything about graphics, alpha 255 is solid, not transparent.

I checked Translucent at crosshair options, set cl_crosshairalpha 255 at console, then did the sun test, walla I can see my crosshair while pointing up at the sun in dust2.
CROSSHAIR PROB SOLVED :D

Staring at the sun can make you blind in real life, even though it's on CS:S. Same brightness as a flashbang. lol :O

The map gamma should not effect crosshair at all. Lets say you point to to a guy on a wall where it is brighter, you could loose sight of your crosshair for a fraction of a second, then bam your shot :P

yeah happens all the time...espcially looking down from short a at long a.....i always lose sight of my crosshair and have to guess where the bullets will go...im going to do ur test gib...thanks alot for the info

hmm, i haven't had any problems with it....then again i hardly ever play dust2; thanks for the solution tho.

You don't lose your crosshair unless you use cl_crosshairscale 3500+ which I use :D Thanks man for the tip man!

that bk O2 knew something someone else didnt know? I dont believe it.

You shouldn't be looking for your crosshair, you should be looking at their head.

Ive had the same problem but I just thought it was normal for dust 2. thanks for the fix, Ill be sure to try it

lol...anyone know the limit for the crosshair....i just always put it at 50000 but anyways....GIB, your my hero now because i see my crosshair perfect no matter where i point it on my screen
