Just a question...

I know in all spy movies, the US is trying to steal Russia's launch codes. I see that coming up here all the time as well.

My question is: WHY?

Why would you want launch codes?

The only thing they can do is launch the missiles, and missiles already have their targets preprogrammed.

In other words, all you can do with launch codes is start your own local Armageddon. You can't shut missiles down with launch codes. You can't reprogram missiles with launch codes. You can only launch with launch codes.

And despite the name "code," launch codes don't code anything. They're randomized strings of numbers useful only for authenticating. They should really be called "launch strings" or "launch tokens," but I digress.

As each side utilizes the same technologies as the other side, they're not stealing plans for teleporters or portable miniguns. They also have the same internal technologies. Both intel rooms at 2Fort, for example, are identical.

No, the the intelligence briefcases are useful only as a football or scoring token. I like the idea mentioned above that the intel briefcases are what is valuable... it makes sense. Cap the other teams briefcases so you can repaint them and keep your stock up.

its the 11 secret herbs and spices.

the real question is... does it ever run out of pages to drop?

im gonna say money, cause well it cant be cake(you can see papers) and well launch codes? BLU and RED are construiction companies, not PMC or CIA lol, so im gonna go for the best answer(to me) and see money

R.E.D is Reliable Excavation Demolition.
B.L.U is Builders League United.
So why is BLU attacking? Simple. Take Dustbowl for example. Stage 3, cap 2. There's a huge rocket. It'll probably lunch if BLU doesn't stop them. Or Goldrush. Some kind of bomb I think.
So RED could need these lunch codes. And BLU probably needs these codes to fire a bigger rocket at RED to stop them shot their rocket at BLU.

Anyway,
I think there's nothing important in that briefcase. It's just a decoy to fool the other team! O:

they will be releasing a meet the intel soon enough...

and i already know whats in it thru hookups so i cant say :(

Inside is a folded up flag from Quake-TF. which is why this is called a CTF map. cuz you are still capturing the flag.

Must be a food recipe... most likely for cookies. I say this with certainty because:

1. Launch codes to nuclear missiles - Too played out.
2. Bank account numbers (money) - Just hack the info... it's a paperless world
3. A map to enlightenment - Don't waste your time... just use the following link to Mapquest
4. CAKE!!!!! - I thought we covered this... the cake is a lie... or is it?
5. Other - It could be cookies, but then again would you rather steal the cookies... or the recipe for the cookies?

It's a cake. A cheesecake to be precise. I have inside info that it is indeed the most delicious cheesecake ever created.

Warning!!! Detour!!!

:D

It would be code as in a ciphered string and not code as in a script, program, instruction set... but a string is a part of this as well.

Nukes prior to 1980(ish) nuke were fitted with a Permissive Action Links. These devices prevented accidental firing of the ICBMs. Once the code was physically set on the nuke it would only launch if supplied the correct matching string. Somebody would call the launch center and order the launch. The launch operator would be given the launch string. In order to get the valid string somebody would have to supply a cipher which would then be used to decrypt/decipher the launch string from a book of possible launch codes. In modern times the concept of rolling or changing ciphers were provided.

In short, you're right about the "string", but that is if you're referring to what is actually entered. To get the string you would need the code.

Fun fact... During the 1960s, the military set the PAL codes to OOOOOOOO. The code remained 0s until the early 1970s and possibly after 1974. The president was unware that the military decided to keep the codes set to all 0s for fear that the wrong string could prevent a key counter attack... Just like setting your luggage combination to 1234... freakin' useless. :D
