Mobo + CPU + Wiireless Card?

Ok first off, the wireless card MUST work on vista x64, i know there arent many out there that have Vista AND 64 bit support but hey, its what i got ;)

What im looking at right now.......

Now heres the even stickier part...
1st, is it worth getting the q6600? or maybe going with an e8400?
1a, This cpu will be used for heavy multitasking and moderate gaming, mostly photoshop, auto cad etc (proggies that dont normally like Vista x64)

2nd, im on a $350 budget NOT INCLUDING REBATES!! so im going for worst case scenario here

3rd, I already have my heatsink for either cpu, a used but still perfect Cigmatek rifle (not sure the exact model), 120mm fan in all, works like a charm

4th, i would consider AMD but only the Phenom 9950

5th, the motherboard MUST support 4 slots of DDR2 ram, since thats kinda what i have atm :P

6th, NO IM NOT SWITCHING OFF OF VISTA X64 :D

edit> cpu will not be overclocked, im tryng to stay around the normal settings for a good 2 months to break it in, so assume its out of box, stock clocks...

to me your selections look good, and yes for what you do the q6600 is worth it. a Quad is only useful for multitasking and auto cad... Quads are useless for gaming right now.

It was a pain getting my linksys wireless g card to work in vista x64.. but I got it finally... good luck with the gigabyte...
 
get E8400 great overclocking ablitities and like Kodiak said Quad core isn't really nessasairy unless you are gonna multi task.
 
Seeing as how munky stated quite plainly that he'll be doing heavy multitasking, the Q6600 is an obvious choice over the e8400.

Motherboard's also fine, great actually. :D

Sure, right now, a dual core works great for gaming, but that is not really all that you are going to be doing. The clock speed on the dual cores is higher, but you won't really notice much of a difference. Most games are GPU bottlenecked anyway. The ones that aren't, have quad core support (albeit lazy and limited). Gaming is not the only thing you will do with this PC anyway. Quad is just better for everything else. Winrar, rendering, everything else receives huge jumps in timing. My last point is the price. They are not far away at all anymore!! Why pay the same price for TWO LESS cores?

This is one of those points where there is a dichotomy. Everyone picks a side and swears by it. All have their good and bad points. When it comes down to it, most of it depends on how long you plan on using it and what you plan on using it for.
 
yeah, if you plan on futureproofing yourself, go with the quad core.

and like you said, you will not be overclocking too much so i would still go with your quad core.

the e8400 and e8500 are a overclockers dream! they are amazing when paired with the correct mobo
