Photoshop CS3 Background

Im trying to make my own sig with photoshop although I am no pro, and Ive got the background as checkboard.. white and grey.. I want the background to be set to blue.. like pure blue.. every time i go to set it.. it changes the whole image to one big blue box and overwrites the other picture I have on there.

Hey man. The key for using multiple images is in the Layers. You can find a layer box on the side usually, or go to view and select it. Whatever images you have you can place one on top of the other using layers. Whatever is highest up in the Layers panel is on top. Whatever is the lowest is usually a background. Hope that helps.

Does anyone know how blur the edges like when photobucket shows the picture?

It sort of shows like the edges have a blackened blur to them..

to do it like i did you might have to experiment with the settings
