from morning to night.
same thing every day, arty that rains down and brings many frights.
in the forest of snow we wait, for the enemy to come with all their might.

cut off and surrounded,
outnumbered by the hundreds.
we had no idea what we had confronted.

in our snow covered foxholes we sleep.
barely a feet deep.
when the front lines change, slowly we would creep.

little clothing we had as I sat there cold and numb,
it effect all and not just some,
all for a town, thats what i call dumb.

i hear something, first it is lightly, and then it grew and grew.
i turn to and looked at my brother who was eating what look like stew.
i thought they were getting ready to fight just before the missiles flew.

to my surprise it was not a battle cry or any hostile sign.
all the enemy was doing was singing loud and clear,
so i relaxed because i have nothing to fear.

but, this song i knew.
i always sang it too,

song in a different language,
but there is no mistake.

the night before Christmas, what a place to be.
here we lay, where the world cant see.
the enemy is tired, and so are we,
so for today, they let us be.

so today we stop fighting, they let us know.
on this battlefield of snow.

not that great, i haven't written in awhile, and today just seem like a day to just write it down. all came from my head, i think i tried to rhyme it to much, but whatever.

this takes place during the allies advance in WWII, where the United States Airborne and armor division, was cut off, surrounded, low on supplies, no aid due to fog, and poorly equipped for the winter fight.

this was part of Battle of the Bulge, the fight at Bastogne, Belgium

hope you guys like, please don't be to harsh on me XD
