ok i got a Diamond XtremeSound - 5.1/16 bit Sound Card so now i got my 5.1 workern but now my mic dont wanna work i have my onboard sound turned off and i need some help it kinda works like i can hear myself talk but no one can hear me ingame or on vent and what-not so i wanna buy a new card but im broke so ye please help

Make sure it's set to default and turn up it's volume

go into control panel, then hardware and sound, then sounds.

Click on the recording tab and make sure you do trial and error on the different devices by setting each one of them to the default device one at a time until you find the one that is your mic.

ok let me explain it better. when its pluged in i can hear myself talk so i know its worken kinda the problem is i cannot get vent or any apps to recognize it is their also when i have any programs like a media player when i am in recording settings its maxed on all the time so i hope that better explains my problems and when media player is off it works

this is going to sound stupid but it worked for me when i had the same problem. go to control panel/sounds and audio devices click advanced and mute your mic input.
