Upgrading CPU

watch out, your going from 65 to 45 nm.

i did this with my old mobo, and i couldn't go 5 min without bsod

Cool! my dad got me a new mobo and yes i can't wait till it gets here!!

Ouch...according to the CPU support list, it wont even support the E8500 you originally wanted. It does support the E7300 with the latest BIOS update...

Is there any particular reason you feel the need to upgrade from a decent E6600? Keep the 200 for now and save up over a few months until you can upgrade all at once.

yea.. bummer. i guess it be best to wait a few months and replace all my components and get i7. thanks. saved me from going through all the trouble of installing it and it not working then having to return it all.

If everything's working fine right now, there's no need for to update the BIOS.

I can 99% guarantee that your C2Q will work flawlessly if you update your BIOS. Each new CPU has a new CPUID that may not have been added to the BIOS when the board was originally released. That may be your problem.

Update your BIOS, and I'll give you $5 if the Q6600 doesn't work.
