Have you thought about something like this?

Directron is a nice little newegg alternative computer parts site; they offer stuff you won't find on Newegg. I <3 their casebadge selection. Why doesn't eGO have an official casebadge yet?!?

If the rats are already in your house I think keeping them out of your computer is secondary to a much bigger problem.

They would get killed by the fans anyway

I don't suggest adding anything like that. If you have a high quality case, then its meant to run with those brackets intact. Cases are designed to funnel airflow to certain areas, and out of them too. Adding holes/fans can distort your airflow

Yes, but half of those cases have crappy airflow design, hence the need for more/better fans and other modifications.

You're welcome
