Well.. my mic is really screwed up when i play games, only source games though it seems.

I cannot adjust the outbound inbound volumes (they reset to highest after i exit menu), the mic test sounds like i'm standing in the middle of a hurricane. I try talking on css and INS, the response is always "Fuzion your mic is messed up, buy a new one"

Team speak, vent, xfire, and sound recorder all work but not on source games? I miss out on a lot of communication and really don't want to buy a new headset..

Any help is appreciated

Go into control panel
>sound
>recording tab
>click your headset
>click properties
and adjust the level down, often the "hurricane" sound is from distortion, and valve's crappy audio encoder overlooks the level and simply transmits distorted voice.

If that does not help, or the level is already at its lowest, you can try re-installing the headset drivers (or updating them off the mfg's website)
Or, as a last resort, uninstall steam and all your effected games, then re-install with your headset plugged in so steam and the games are aware of it and should configure itself accordingly.

Well after fiddling around with my volume controls, i found out that it was the stero mix causing the echo, i muted it and now all is fine. Thanks for the help, glad i can finally talk now.. lol
