'Unassigned' spectator exploit

On 2fort instant respawn yesterday I saw quite an odd sight - the intel was floating around with the scout's helmet hovering above it. It bumped me and decloaked me when I was a spy, and continued to interfere with the gameplay. A pub explained that this is some sort of glitch where a player joins the 'unassigned' team. Apparently it can only be people who are spectating who can do this.

Wasn't that a bug what was fixed in a patch a while ago?

We think that maybe the most recent update caused it to come back. Admins are definitely aware of the problem and as Jaxory pointed out we have specific instructions on how to deal with it.
