SLI Mode for Video Cards

EVGA X58 Classified does. Supports 3 dual slot cards in tri-sli and a single slot Physx card.

Yes, but not 3 295's in true SLI. Quad SLI is a pretty powerful setup as it is. Most people end up having to overclock their cpu's well over 4ghz to be able to fully use the cards.

indeed....bottlenecking.

well cant wait till the future when GPU's will be doing the CPU's task. What did they call it? CPGPU? something like that, GPU's are far ahead in technology compared to CPU's and have far more horsepower. Those CPGPU's should be rolling out in a couple of years i think, remember hearing about like prototypes couple months ago when reading engadget.

2 295's will handle absolutely anything. As it is right now i have 1 4890 in my computer and can handle even crysis at fullest settings quite quickly, but at a lower resolution of 1680?1050 with almost no lag whatsoever. the only thing id worry about for your sake is shelling out 900-1000 bucks for graphics cards.

I would buy just the one graphic card and use the rest of your money for the large screen tv you want to use as your monitor. The improvement you get from the second top of a line card is so small it is not worth the money. That same amount of money if you hold onto it will get you another top of the line card in 2-3 years when you original card will not run all games on the market maxed out aswell anymore.

right now a 8800gt will run almost every game out there maxed out with the exception of a few. Crisis being one of those games.

IF you decide to do this, you better invest in some good cooling because holy crap, just ONE 295 COOKS when its under load. Running 3 in conjunction, you're gonna get artifacting within the first minute of any game you start up.

Well, if you turn the fans up to 100% they run cool enough(although it's loud as standing next to a space shuttle taking off). BFG now has a self contained water cooled GTX 295 as well, although it would require that you have 3 120mm fann ports within like 9 inches of your graphics card(1 120 for each card).

The thing I don't like about Tri SLI is the cards are so close together the poor middle card gets cooked.

GPU's can never really replace CPU's. GPU's only do floating point calculations, but don't have the versatility of CPU's.

I'm running an overclocked GT295, 4GB of Ram and a 2.66 Quad Core and I can run basically every game on Maxed settings, 1920x1200 resolution and maintain about 75-100 fps.
