Ok Just want to say I say Garden Grove's tutorial but it says thats for tf2.DOes it work for css?

I was also told that you just ahve to have a computer on all the time, no additional payment, just the e;sctric bill.Is that true?

yes you have to have a comp runnig at all times or you can find a server hosting company that host servers for yu

Ok, if you are going to use your computer to run your server, you cannot play CS:S at the same time. Usually you would buy a server from a company, which means its gonna cost some moneyz.

It's just a dedicated server, you can maybe get 5 other people on and their ping will be really high depending on they live, maybe cloes to 10 if your computer can handle it. Only real way to run a big server is by paying for one.

Honestly, you don't want to worry about it. To many Cvars to mess with for not much turn out.

If the server is ran on computer your upload bandwith would affect the performance of the server, that's why most people purchase servers.

Right now i'm using my moms old laptop that she gave to me, so would it work?It's windows 2000.So gardenGroves works for css and only is ur electric bill, right?

So, I have setup a dedicated server or two. The biggest problem that you might run into beyond having a computer that is running the server (and you aren't playing on) is that most ISPs do not give you a static IP address. That means that whenever they decide to move you to a new IP your server IP will change and will no longer be on people's favorites list. But if you just want to log in and have people join you, you can use the dedicated server as you see fit. You can even bring it up for a short time while you want to play and then take it down when you and your friends are done playing.
