I need to make a desktop that will play Half Life ep2 on full settings while giving me about 100-120 FPS. Try to keep the price low please. Also include a monitor 20" minimum and speakers.

I knw this is like my 3rd thread, but this is the last one. I just need a pc that will do this. Then Ill be set, and the price should be low.

Oh, and I already have a disc for WV home premium.

2 of the main questions that will probably be asked of you are:

1) Are you comfortable with building it yourself, or do you need one from a builder?
2) How much are you looking to actually spend? I know you said keep it low, but people are much more comfortable working with an actual figure rather than just "keep it low".

give me a price to keep it under and I'll build you a pc. "low" is too subjective. low for me is 700, for a friend of mine it's 450, and for another friend it's 1200.

A builder is asking for parts, hes building it without a build charge.

A grand or lower?

Exact price is easier to work with rather then low cause every person's different my low is 1800$ lol.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 $200

GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard $110

XFX 1GB 4870 $145

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 1066 $60

Corsair 650TX Power Supply $100-10MIR

Antec Three Hundred $60

WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD $95

Samsung DVD Burner $25

Acer 22" 5ms LCD Monitor $160

Total=$954.87
w/shipping=$964.97 (to midwest, YMMV)

minus rebates=$954.97

OK guys, tear it apart and show me a better build!

Want cheaper? You can go smaller on the hdd. Processor can go to a Phenom II X3 720. Could also probably get away with less video card if you just want to play HL2, but that one is a good deal right now and has a lifetime warranty. Case has free shipping which always helps a ton. Could also go OCZ on the power supply, but at $70 under retail, that Corsair should last you through two builds.

Let me know if you have any questions. Consider building this bad boy yourself. Or, if your builder is kind, have him show you. It can easily be down from tutorials on the web, and once you do it, you will be set free by your knowledge, or some crap like that... ;)

Would get the same pretty much except for a couple of things.

ATI 4890 $180 after rebates

Tuniq Ripper 1000w $90 after rebate, absolutely cannot beat this price and PSU, i have one myself because it was only 90 bucks and it performs amazing

Acer 23' same price as ur 22'

Cooler master Elite, its cheaper and about the same as 3hundred but looks better

HITACHI Deskstar 500gb this is only $45 after rebate and i dont really think u need 1tb but some ppl do

everything else i would probably keep the same.

Total = $910

With shipping = estimated $930-950??

My build is faster and cheaper and most of the things are better except for the case which is more of a personal opinion and also the hard drive. I have a HAF 932 but it cost $150 bucks soo yeah

that case is ugly man! it's only 5 bucks cheaper after you add shipping

either way on the video card really, you get about 35 bucks worth of performance, so if you want it, get it.

good find on the monitor

never heard of that ps, but an $80 rebate is nice, as long as he remembers to send it in.

hard drive is really whatever size you want!

good additions, except that case! pee u!

haha yea man i understand but thats y i said the case is a personal opinion :P

I do agree though that both cases are fugly.....im not really a fan of the 900 either but i do like the 1200. Im happy with my HAF 932 tho, its crazy good and the airflow beats the 1200 or is the same.
