Its lag but not Lag

i have a problem everytime i play tf2, i regularly play on blackmesa and have ping of 100 ish, thats great for me. but during time i have some kind of "lag" which makes my screen weird. any suggestions for me to fix that? Thanks in advance!

Could be server lag. I get that a lot, and its more annoying than normal ping lag because I can't fix it. Just a guess, I don't know for sure. Alt+Tab?

To the best of my (or maybe lack of) knowledge, if its FPS lag, just turn down some settings. If its server lag. Get up, turn off your computer, unplug everything from it, grab your keys, drive it to Frys, go in, get a Butterfinger, get back in your car, go to a grocery store, sell the Butterfinger for a profit, repeat as many times as needed until you can get a better internet connection. After you do all that, bang your head on your desk as many times as you can because that did not solve the problem.

To test it it to make sure just type net_graph 1 in console, tell us how low it gets when it lags. For good measure download your new video card drivers off of your gpus website, this solves a lot of problems for people usually when they dont know you can. If that dosent help post your speccs of your comp in here and what settings you run in game and well go from there (ie turning on multicore if you have one, fps config) If you cant find your video cardwebsite tell us what brand and ill give you a link.

few things i can think of is your"rate" and possible video setting are exceeding your GPU's max allowable settings

open console and type "net_graph 3" and wait till the lag happens and u can see if its fps or network lag.

In terms of FPS lag, you might try disabling the multi-core rendering in the graphics options; even if you have a multi-core processor. With multi-core enabled, I got this awful shuttering.

Disabling the multi-core rendering is a good start, you really should consider it.

if you lagging when your shooting or a pyro making fire with you and you still lagging is your video card to old or not good enough.
i was having the same problem in dods and tf2 and i got a new computer and all the stuffs run fine. my ping is 150-170. cause im from denmark. PM me if you need more help.
