Is it okay to post an "advertisement" in this forum?

I was wondering if it would be okay to post an "advertisement" in this forum. I'm really not sure which admin to ask, because I am not sure which ones have forum powers, and I was also unsure of where the forum rules were.

Basically, my friends and I have a short film entered in a contest, and if we win we get $250,000 to turn it into a feature film. But to make it to the final round, we need to get votes from the public and make it to the top six out of about 95 or so films.

Yeah, we know this may not be the most appropriate place to ask for votes, but we could use all the help we can get.

Anyway, if it's not allowed, please let me know and we can get this thread out of the way as quickly as possible.

Eh, im not entirely sure. Advertisements to sell stuff is a no. But for just votes idk, hopefully an admin will answer you soon.

This sort of advertisement I believe is allowed. As it is in no way actually selling anything, Ive seen people tell eGO members to vote for their stuff in the past before. Pretty much what Grimm said, also the admins who run the forums are advisers and above. You could ask one and if their are unsure they will direct you to the appropriate person.

Go into Vent and talk to one of the council members to be sure. Basically any council member can answer you. It will all depend on what the film is about and where this contest takes place. We cannot have bad content or link to a bad site.

I'd say the forums are very different from the servers, don't you think?

I mean, certainly, we wouldn't have "polls of the day" or "post your favorite cars here" on a TF2 server. It would be considered spam.

Yet, we have it regularly here.

Which is why I asked.

EDIT: Asked an admin, said it was okay, so I'll post it up later today. Could uh...somebody close this? Or delete it? Or whatevs.
