Gaming Laptop

Hello. I'm planning on buying a gaming laptop sometime soon and would like some suggestions. I definitively don't want to build one, so buying is my only option. I want a small (13" to 15" screen size) laptop, buy it has to run source games (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2) decently and should be suitable for day-to-day web browsing.

Could anyone give me info about possible prices or parts?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Pickles

My suggestion is to not buy a gaming laptop, I have one and it overheats quickly and has limited gaming power. Also I think laptops are unupgradable.

The only thing you can really upgrade is RAM LOLZ

I recommend looking for the following if you want to run those games

4GB RAM
2.0GHZ dual core, at least

Dedicated nvidia or ati graphics card, with at least 512mb video RAM.

Also I think laptops are unupgradable.
That all depends on the manufacturer's design of the product. Some are rather easy to upgrade, and even a few more promote such things. However, it's not as simple as upgrading a PC, because you cannot just go adding a bigger fan when the thing starts overheating.

I too, do not recommend you get a Gaming Laptop, as a desktop can be purchased for half the price of the laptop, and have better system specifications to boot. However, you are obviously asking for a recommendation, and I will not be so rude so as not to give one.

I recommend the ASUS G60J, or G73jh, both of which are great machines with gaming pedigrees, with good performance. The price, somewhere between $2000 and $2600USD. Seeing as how you did not state a price-range, I was unable to give a more clear response. Also, it should be noted that the Source-Engine is a very easy Engine and virtually plays on anything, so really any laptop, with at least a dedicated graphics-card, could play these games, along with the fairly standard task of viewing the internet.

Thanks for the long post.

I forgot to mention above that I already have a gaming rig, this is just for traveling and such. Maybe I wasn't very clear also, I kind of want this to be for light gaming, so it doesn't have to run things on full. Also, my price range, is in the $600 range. So as I said above, this isn't going to be a super computer. So really, this is more of a decent laptop that can run games rather than a gaming laptop.

The only thing I would prefer to have, is a decent dedicated graphics card and at least a 2.0GHz processor.

If what I'm asking for exceeds my price limit, please tell me what I can change to get inside it.

Thanks again,
Pickles

I think you could hit within your price limit. I think you should find one within range, then revert it to windows xp. That way you can get maximum performance out of it

This is a little out of your price range, but for the price, it is a great deal

There is also this one which is closer to your price range. It's open box, but most open box products are good as new.

For limited gaming on the go, ASUS hands down. check out bestbuy.com for some great prices and then look further into actual user reviews for each model you may consider.

Make sure you get a lightweight notebook.

I have seen people with these heavy rigs, they just end up living on the coffee table.... :-(
