Dual boot? Or two HD's?

I'm looking to dual boot on my main pc. I was wondering which would be best to do

Dual boot on a single HD?

Or purchase a second HD?

OS's being used:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Ubuntu 64-bit

I currently have a 320 GB HD @ 7200rpm. I was thinking the second (Linux) HD would be like 120GB @ 10000rpm

Does SSD use SATA?

Btw, 2x 10000rpm drives using raid0 = better performance than SSD

Wanna link me to a cheap SSD? preferably from futureshop.ca, since it's close to me. Or best buy canada

That one is in the laptop internal HD section?

And ordering online to Canada is a pain

It's able to fit in a laptop, but it's good in desktops, too.
Are you really going to doubt me on something tech related? Lol

Why 10000rpm? Why not just get a small SSD? Lol 3 second boot time ftw?

Because he can get 120GB at less than the price of the cheapest 64GB SSD, that would be why for me.

What's the point in running a nix box with that powerful an hdd if it's not going to be some kind of dedicated server, either game, file, web, media, and all that takes up space.

If you just want to tinker buy a netbook for the same price as an SSD and put nix on it, or use a Live cd

Ronpaul, I like that idea. But I would rather purchase a HD for my desktop, since I use it often and would prefer the performance.

That SSD is rather steep priced :/

SSD's aren't meant for storage. They're only bad if you think of them like that. Yes, they are expensive, but they are so much faster than 7200 RPM drives.

I will be using this HD for my movies, music, programming, testing applications, and some gaming

Then you definitely want to stay away from ssd, unless you're interested in installing the os on the ssd and using ANOTHER drive for communal storage, then dealing with mounting the storage drive in windows and nix. I can see how you could justify a ssd OS and program drive and a 10k (even 7200) storage drive for all the media, but you can't accomplish everything you want to do with a single ssd.
