Rocket class settings suggestion

I've been wanting to suggest this for over a week now to kind of make our servers more better in a very little way. I wanted to suggest on making the class more better for the sake of balance in the game and our servers.

Normal Rocket Class Features:
**1 slot available**
1. Rocket Launcher with x5 ammo
2. M1 carbine rifle with x3 magazines of ammo
3. Knife

I've been playing Day of Defeat source since last year of March and not even knowing any clans that play dod:s. I played on normal servers owned by the JNS clan. An old clan that is near dead now. And on their servers they would have these settings

JNS Rocket Class Features:
**2 slot available**
1. Same old Rocket Launcher
2. m1 carbine with x12 ammo
3.knife
Basically just change the m1 carbine magazine count and change the available slots to 2.

Interesting, there is another thread about this in the general forums. But since I'm not the one that's going to tell you no I might as well spitball a little.

All I'll say is, if it's not broken, don't fix it. We have no idea what changing the number of rocket slots would do to the balance of our servers, my guess is it would make the allies weaker and the axis stronger, just like everything in dods.

With that many secondary magazines for the carbine I PROMISE you there will be players that choose the rocket class just to use that weapon, primarily. I don't like that, we'll have people asking in general chat why the admins let someone use the rocket class that doesn't actually use the rocket, and it will happen. Also, I think the carbine is particularly disruptive since it can be fired on the move and at great range without any recoil. I can see this change greatly disrupting the balance already established if you can imagine a scenario with two carbine experts lobbing near unlimited shells (they're out there).

I don't really see a case being made here for changing anything. Seems like you just want to change things for the sake of it or because JNS servers are dying and you're a creature of habit. There's no evidence to speak of here, who knows how long this will be up until it gets locked so in the meantime, what makes this a good idea?
 
I agree with ronpaul. The carbine is a very good weapon as a secondary, but if we started having people using it a lot as a primary, it would become a big issue, I'm sure. It would create a lot of grief and a lot of people complaining to admins (1) that people are using the rocket class without using the rocket, like ronpaul said and (2) that they are being unfair with the carbine being so accurate and easy to fire.

I've never seen anyone complain about there not being enough rocket classes because, to be honest, not many people want to play the rocket class and if that is how it is, then it should be left that way. I'm sure people would enjoy playing a carbine class if there were such a thing but it would be quite unfair.

Imagine the C96 spam we'd get. That is a little devil gun, it's so fast and if you're going around a corner especially in a building you practically guaranteed to kill anyone coming at you. 1 of each is plenty. Rockets do a lot of damage and are fairly easy to use if you know what you're doing and their secondaries are a bit hard to play against especially if they had a more legitimate amount of ammo as you are suggesting.
 
Have you ever seen Dutch with the Broom-handle? You give him 12 mags for that gun and I will transfer to TF2.

I don't play rocket very often but what the heck maybe it would benefit the class. I would like to see things happen...atleast try it out.

if we tried it out anywhere I'd hope it would be on the colmar test server, start small, analyze results, deploy or shelve the idea

I agree with Sumac on this, and they have it set the way it is now ever since they started the DOD:s servers and highly doubt that it will ever change, got a suggestion put it in the drop box. :)

all leadership reads it from there :)
 
I play on the 1st Raiders Battalion server when Im not on ego. It has I believe 3 or 4 rocket class open and you get 12 clips of ammo. And while someone who has any skill with the rocket class can easily dominate with the carbine, I havent noticed any games that are tipped in the favor of teams with a bunch of rocket players. In fact while the server is almost always full, there always seems to be a rocket spot open. I should note FF is turned on (wish it was turned on on eGo) so I suppose ppl are a lot more cautious with using the rocket/nades.

I would like to see maybe 2 more clips added because while the carbine has virtually no recoil, its not that powerful. It can take several shots to take someone down, unless you can score a headshot everytime youre gonna be out of ammo quick. And Im certainly not gonna run around trying to knife ppl. And good luck getting ammo. I get tired having to ask ppl constantly for ammo. Yes, some players dont know that they can press H, but I've seen countless regs who've been playing DoD for a while now and they just completely ignore you. They run right past when you ask for ammo.

Personally, I would like the MG/Sniper class to be limited to 1 slot for each team. Having 4 mgs (5 or 6 if someone picks up a gun after killing a gunner) on a map like flash or kalt is ridiculous. I think the pace of the games would be more fun. All the more incentive to kill the other sides mg and grab their gun if you want 2 mgs on your team :)
 
Ron and some of the others summed it up well. We will not give the c96 and the m1 carbine more ammo because they are a rocket class and not c96/m1 classes. As for changing the number of slots we allow for rocket, it is also unlikely we will change that eaither becase it has worked for years and we do not want to inadvertently effect team balance. Other leadership feel free to comment here too.
 
But I love the Rocket Class. :( Do it for Rizz guys! One more clip of C96 ammo can't hurt the game.
 
I agree with ronpaul, however as someone who plays rocket often, I find I do run out of secondary ammo. Yes, giving more secondary mags would make it unbalanced, so how about a pistol or something? I notice all the classes get pistols, many of which were not intended to, so why not the rocket as well?
