Who wants to make a mod?

Hey everyone, a mod I played long ago has recently releasing their source code. The core idea of the mod is great fun and I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to start a hobby project based off the source code of said mod. Since this mod is of actually minimal devotion and is no more than a hobby, a large percentage of the weapon models will come from FPSbanana users (with their permission of course).

The concept of the original mod.

Zombie Master is a multiplayer Half-Life 2 modification, centred around a zombie-apocalypse, which throws all but one player in the shoes of human survivors. Pitched against a relentless tide of rotting flesh, they must scavenge for weaponry and equipment just to stay alive. But that one player, chosen randomly at the beginning of the round, is not bound by mortal restraints.

To speak his name is to invite the wrath of hell - but most call him the 'Zombie Master'. He is nigh omnipotent. His invisible hand controls the legions of undead like puppets on strings; slowly closing the net on the humans while they run to and fro like rats in a maze.

Features
Human team:

* A wide range of weapons to scavenge such as shotguns, molotov cocktails, rifles and more
* A number of challenging objectives that encourage players to team up and work together
* The ability to interact with the environment to build barricades and carry objects

Zombie Master:

* Real Time Strategy gameplay; create and command your own undead horde
* A wide variation of zombie units encourages the ZM to adopt complex tactics
* Environmental "manipulates" allow the ZM to interact with the world in devilish ways
* Mysterious powers let the ZM manifest his power in a more direct fashion... for a price

My idea

I guess so, but It'll be kinda fun just to add a couple maps, guns, models, NPCS, and some more functionality to it.

This is easier than starting from the ground up.
 
Ohh okay. That makes it sound better to me.

So this is an RTS kind of game? Going to be VERY difficult to modify HL2 to be an RTS. If you want this to be an FPS then this has already been done and is called Zombie Panic: Source.

Its both, and I already have the source code for that element of the game. Meaning you already have a fully functional RTS player.
 
pfff, if your modding the mod "Zombie master" someone has already done that, and its name is zombie master BLACK, its the same gameplay, new hud, and LOTS of new weapons and animation, well... Good luck

Its different then ZM:BE. This wont have ironsights, there will be boss zombies, a new animation for the shambler and molotov, a beacon from each player so the ZM sees them at all times, revised ZM movement and HUD, removed zombie surfing, a new enemy, and resource caches for the ZM.
 
eGO had a lot of people working on a mod called project x (had another name but forgot it) a while back. Forgot what happened to it though.

the project name was X but the name of the mod was holy strike and it jsut flopped
