Hello,

I was wondering where you can buy a source server. Like a DOD:S server.
How much does this cost and stuff.
Dont think I'm gonna buy one, but maybe in the future once:)

I've already seen this website: https://www.gameservers.com
But there you can choose between "private" and "public", whats the difference?

Cost differentiates from hosting companies, location, speed, slots available, etc,. The best way to find a variety of different prices and server modifications is to do as Ki11zjoy said and search online for gaming servers. You should find several different companies which offer gaming servers, especially for DoD: S.

GameServers are decent. The difference between a public and private is price, and also the fact you'll have a server password protected with fewer slots (private).

In steam there is a dedicated server tool, I would guess its what "private" would be. But it's also not as good as buying a server such as eGO's, I believe it's based off of the owning computer's service

Gameservers are nice, they have pretty good support team. Highly I've had rented a gameserver from them and it worked just perfect.

The difference between private and public is this.

Private is a bit cheaper, but your server is going to be passworded at all times. That's why it's a bit cheaper because people can't just come and go, so the server wont be as stressed.

Public is a open server with no password.

If you want to learn about managing a server yourself, you can buy a cheap VPS with like 1GB RAM and use the hldsupdatetool from valve, and setup yourself.

If you just want to run a server, then gameservers is good

Private is a bit cheaper, but the server will be protected at any time.

Well my friend currently has a 64 slot server for 15 dollars a month, the problem is that it has absolutely no customer service, and I heard that it's very unorganized in terms of adding mods, but if you want to try it, or look at it,

That's pretty bad with you know, no customer service or cannot add mods. But other than that it's a pretty good deal. More better than a monthly payment of World of Warcraft.

If customer service is bad, im tempted to avoid it. And not adding mods isnt good since we all want that type of thing

I recommend http://www.xfactorservers.com. Their standard servers are 20 cents more expensive than gameservers but their customer support and overall support is much better. My friend rents a server from them and has never had a complaint.

Also, sorry if I sound like I am forcing you to go with xfactorservers :/.
