Can you give me the best build that money can buy? Like price doesn't matter. Just give me the best of the best.

Water or air?
I am defaulting to air, since I have pretty much no experience with water.

And, will you actually buy it, or am I just doing it just cause?

I'll just tell you the parts then, and guess the price.
Does it include everything, or just the tower?

Uh, let's see...
Quad SLI GTX 480s
Core i7 980x
6GB DDR3 2000MHz Corsair XMS3
GIGABYTE UD9
Corsair AX1200 + SeaSonic X650
2x OCZ Vertex 2 Pro 200GB in RAID 0
4x SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB, In RAID 0+1
ASUS Xonar STX
Custom Built Case
All over water, and OC'd to hell and back.
But you'd need a generator, and a custom fabricated outlet to house all that power, as they can output a max of 1700W, and that is obviously more. :p
The HDD/SSD set up is completely subjective, though.

Estimated price, minus all mods/waterblocks/fabricated stuff.
~$6800

whats sad is this will be a standard PC in 3-6 years most likely. Technology for you.

No, it wouldn't.
Possibly the six-core, but not that exact one,
but 4GB-8GB will still be the standard, I believe.
But having 4 GPUs will never be the standard.
But probably incredibly fast SSD's that have a high capacity, like a 1TB with read/writes at 800/770 speeds. :O

I wasn't being that exact when I said the pc in 3-6 years ~ No standard PC user will have 4 1tb HDDs either XD

Actually Phobus, it can be WAY more expensive

Evga Classified SR-2: 700$

2- ASUS ARES GFX cards: 1200$ each :D

2- 980X (yes its a dual compatible Processor Board) 1200$ each

6X 8GB Ram Sticks 500$ EACH Total 3000$

+ all more stuff.

Watercooling can cost upto 1000$ and back if you make 3 GREAT LOOPS (CPU, GPU, Motherboard NorthBridge and Chipset.

Good luck finding a waterblock for the board. The chips are right next to the PCI-E slots.

Oh yeah. I was being at least somewhat practical. :p

Only if you turn HT off, Why not just get 2 Xeon's? then you can have 24 threads!

I have no idea where you are getting this 1000$ WC stuff. Are you using 24ct. gold as coolant?
and yes singular, there are already waterblocks for the SR2

I never said there wasn't.

this is for a friend

1. $500 maybe more Zip code is 73099
2. purpose is for gaming
3. NOT over clocking
4. what he will need is pretty much everything meaning a case, CPU, GPU, sound card, fans, heat sync and fan, and so on except a monitor (he has this one http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...37&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=459838&lang=en# but he can save up for a better one later) and an OS.
5. for as long as he can xD
6. he says "if the fan would be a little quiet thats great. the case doesnt have to look super fantastic but a nice sleek look would be OK as long as it has fan spots.

Please PM me the list if thats alright with you :D

Pretty much everything includes a mouse and keyboard, but you didn't say he needed those. And that's a weak build, he should just save up more. I mean, he could just stick with onboard for a while then pick up a 5770 later on down the road.
