The way DDoS works, after researching, is by people who are mostly downloading torrents. They're rooted into mostly the cd-key generators. Once launched, pretty much the DDoS host can use your own computer to attack an IP address. There is software on the internet to scan your system for these registered malicious software on your system. If you want to be more information on how DDoS works, there's always Google. So I'd advise anyone who is downloading torrents, to find software that scans such malicious programs.

Not true.

DDos can be excavated using .exe's and scripts. Torrents have nothing to do with it.

People like to jump on torrents because of their common use for Copyright infringement (Does not apply to all countries). This does not mean they give access to your pc.

I personally believe torrents are MUCH better than direct download, and use them as much as possible, often with Linux distro's and some other items my countries laws allow.

So to make a long story short - don't stop torrenting. Check comments before you download, and keep virus scanners going

1. Referring to Google as a main reference source.
2. Never explaining how a DDoS actually works.
3. Providing no actual helpful tips or scanning tools.
4. Blaming torrents when unsecure html/iframe settings are a much more likely infection source.
5. Assuming botnets/malware are the same as DDoS attacks.

In other words, based on what I'm reading here, you don't really know what you're talking about but wanted to talk about risky torrents.

Given the number of torrents, the number of actual bad ones are quite small. Use your common sense filter.

I didn't want to post such things because I've only researched it a little. I've been asked not to give to much stuff about DDoSing because if you really wanted to know, all you need is "google." I'm not going to go over a page of info quoted from different sources when you can use "google."

Use your common sense filter.

Use your common sense. If you want to tell members of eGO on the basics of DDoS, by God you're going to release the already nerds to be to DDoSing machines. Because from what I can tell, it's easy to set up and use. So don't go slashing down on what I've typed.

Someone please lock this thread.

You know, you're more likely to get an infection which leads to your computer becoming part of a botnet by clicking on the Advertisements that are on common sites like Facebook and Myspace than by downloading torrents.

This all falls under common sense. Run antivirus and watch what you click on and download.

Don't start spreading false information that all the sudden torrents are the biggest cause of malware/viruses.

Also, your information on what exactly DDoS is, is completely wrong. Distributed Denial of Service is a type of attack that is commonly launched by large botnets, which are groups of infected computers. There are many ways a DDoS attack can take place, but common ones are pings of death, syn floods, and trying to load a page off a web server that doesn't exist.

Please stop passing around false information. There are already threads posted which help people who aren't sure what software to run on their systems to keep them safe. There is no need to go and get everyone hysterical over something that isn't even close to being as dangerous as what you're making it out to be.

I'm just stating from what I learned on a youtube video how to load it up. Torrents aren't all bad, yes I know that much, but what I've heard is they load it into the keygen. If I could find the youtube video again I would, but I won't post it here.

So what you're confirming for me is that you watched a Youtube video on how to hack and all the sudden the world isn't a safe place?

Also, any modern day antivirus will detect a trojan or virus, even if it's packaged into a keygen.

No lmao, I was just pulling out something about torrents and how the torrents could be infected with the DDoS malicious program.

And yes I know about the modern day anti-virus stuff. Just stating a possible fact about a torrent.

DDoS isn't a malicious program.

Sure torrents can contain malware/viruses, but as I said before, advertisements on websites are just as dangerous, if not more so due to their visibility. Anything you download off the internet could potentially contain a virus. To say that torrents are the biggest offenders is just plain wrong.

I didn't say torrents are the biggest offenders.

Mostly signifies a majority, which means that by that statement you're saying torrents are the largest contributers of malware and viruses which cause botnets to be formed, and DDoS attacks to be launched.

1: Most people who download torrents have no clue what they're getting into, so that's why I said that.

2: Torrents are probably, if not, close to 51%, which is majority, of all viruses. Botnets are formed when that person downloads the "program", launches the setup and install. (Let's say they don't have an anti-virus software) And over time is infected. DDoS'ers then take that computer and use it as their own little weapon by sending packets continually to the victim.

Trust me, I'm fully aware of how DDoS attacks work. But where are you getting this 50% from? You can't make up your own statistics and then quote from them.

guys please dont spread rumors like this. Unless you have a cited source of proof that is reliable (A.K.A. not youtube, wikipedia, etc) the speculation is not healthy in any way.

On another point, we do not discuss torrenting on these forums. Please keep that in mind.
