Would you guys say this is a good build? This is my first time building a computer so list anything that would be better or not compatible. But I do have 2 questions.

Do I have to find a crossfire cable to get the two 5970's to work or do they come in the box? Another thing is since am planning to have two of them crossfiring should I get a GPU cooler as well? If so which one?

that psu would be fine, but I dont recomend it. I suggest this instead:
Seasonic S12II 850w

Will be plenty of watts for you setup, has WAY WAY WAY less ripple than the 750TX, better effiecency etc.

For the hdd i would suggest Samsung F3's, they are faster than cav black's.

Other than that, looks like an awesome build.

Thanks for the help so far

Is this a good GPU cooler for the 5970's?

First of all I'm saying most of this on more of a cheaper alternative but hey some people in the world have great paying jobs or awesome parents so you do what you want with your money. :p

Personally, if you were just planning on building a very good gaming computer, I would not recommend getting the 5970 Crossfire, and if you'd still want to anyway, only get one to begin and see how that works. I pull 100-250fps in any game you can think of with no overclock using a 5870.

HDD: I completely agree with the person who said Spinpoint F3s are better, I have experienced both and in my opinion I would go with Samsungs.

Case: If you're building a large PC like that with Crossfire you may want to go with the CM 932. From what I hear its an excellent case. I just use the Med Sized CM 690 myself.

Blu-Ray Drive: I don't care very much for them, but if you're building a rig like this and ofcourse own many Blu-Ray DVDs then I suppose it is a good idea ^^

Mouse: I currently use the Razer Imperator and enjoy it a lot, mice are another thing that are up to you though. yada yada

Keyboard: Now this is something I actually have an opinion on, I have heard from MANY people that the Arctosa is not all that it has been made up to be. I was recommended the G110 and its great for everything I need it for. But another thing that is all up to you.

Hell, the whole thing is up to you its your PC :p
Note: Didn't comment on a few parts due to them looking fine by my standard.

The GPU cooler is not required, or even suggested unless you want to overclock ridiculously.

Crossfire 5970s could get very hot, my 5870 alone reaches 50-60 degrees celcius playing WoW/TF2 which I need to get checked out. Unless only mine does that. If so, Help? ^^ Using the EAH5870 From Asus.

Edit: That RAM looks great if you're making such a high powered machine, but I suggest you go with either Corsair or G.Skill. They make great RAM from my experiences.

Also, I really recommend sticking with a Corsair PSU if you upgrade yours.

Yeah it's going to be a graduation gift from my parents so I really did raise the budget a bit =P.

There's a thread for this, you know.

I thought that was for people who didn't exactly have everything planned out for parts D:

Also I suppose I'll be going with those suggestions Seto~, but I am still unsure if I should go with the 5970 or 5870 though.

I mean two 5970s cost the same as my whole PC, but if you can get it, then get it lol. I'm not saying I wouldn't love that PC right now. Also, I don't recommend you go off just one persons suggestion by themself, even my own.

But most of the things I pointed out are just facts that a lot of people are quick to point out, though are usually true. You should always do your own research XD

In all honesty, I would get 1 5970, and crossfire it with a 5870. If you overclock the 5970 to 5870 speed, you would have performance equal to 3 5870s. After 3 gpus there are minimal gains with the 4th.

Really? It's designed to take that heat, and can actually get much hotter and still be safe. I think it's thermal limit is around 105C, but I'm not sure.

That is another good idea I suppose.

What's the difference between the 1GB and 2GB 5870?

The amount of VRAM. What kind of monitor set up are you wanting? Just one, or an Eyefinity set up?

Just the standard 1920 x 1080 resolution single monitor.

I do hear that the 2GB would be better for AA... And I do love me some AA.

lol just read up on this. Wondered why my card was always so hot. my bad T.T

If you plan to crssfire a 5870 with a 5970, , get the 1gb 5870.

The 5970 is 2 1gb 5870 cores on 1 pcb (they are also downclockedl, but that is another diisscussion ). So if you cf a 2gb 5870 with the 5970, you will still only be able to use 1gb of total vram. This is because in crossfire, all cards in the cf all the cards match the lowest card.

Since the 5970 is just 2 1gb cards, the extra gig in the 2gb 5870 would sit unused.

Tl:dr,
Buy 5970
Buy5870 1gb
Crossfire
???
Profit

Also, with only 1 monitor, 1gb is plenty of vram.

Srry for spelling errors, I'm on my phone.

Better for what? Both will perform exceptionally in 1080p gaming, but one would cost a lot more than the other.
