ipod quality?

how can i make itunes not compress my songs alot when i put them on my ipod? i have songs that have lots of base and sound fine when i put them on a cd but when i put the same song on my ipod the quality is terrible

When you connect your ipod, click onto that screen that shows the information, and uncheck converting to AAC

Well when you rip a CD you can try ripping in a higher quality format. I use FLAC for almost all my music but itunes gets really mad at your when you try using flac files, try the Apple Lossless format. It does take more space to hold better quality though so you better make sure you don't have an Ipod shuffle or something.
