See, as a history major, I've always found the relationship (as far as the story goes) between the heavy and the medic to be interesting. TF2 is set in the 50s, which is just after WWII. In WWII, the Germans did some serious backstabbing to the Russians, who WERE allied with them prior to, and during the first part of, the war. A lot of modern scholars attribute Germany's eventual loss to Germany's invasion of Russia (2 front wars are never good). Suffice it to say, it was rare that Germans and Russians got along after that whole 'invasion' thing.


All of that said, I find it interesting that probably one of the most integral relationships in the game is one between a Russian and a German in the very near post-war period. Interesting to think about, no?
