calling KAR98 lovers...

Who loves KAR98?

Its really cool to master this rifle, just learn to swing it properly and you will find quick aiming is easy. Anyone agrees?

Im learning Garand as well, but its not one shot kill like KAR if you dont hit the target above torso level though semi-auto should compensate when faced with KAR rifleman who always misses. lol

It's a cool weapon but IMO it's probably a bit too strong, when you're able to dodge guys with automatic weapons at close range you can kill pretty much everyone very fast.

K98 is my fav wep, and like he said.. swing it with skills and it will give you beautiful kills

i always have been in love with the k98 :) but after i changed mouse i can not really hit anything with it ;) maybe i will start to practice with it . but now i am doing good with support and the Garand :)

I like the 98, but a funny thing is in WWii the factory they were built was in a country the Germans captured. The people were forced to work there and they did not want to support the Germans, so they made the sights on the Kar 98 so messed up they they shot 3 feet to the left. But in all the games they are very accurate.:confused1:

Source?? Even if true, there's no way this applied to all, or even most of, k98s produced during the war. Even if it applied to a minority of rifles, I can't imagine most Germans storming a battlefield with a weapon they've never sighted or tested.

Instead, the K98 had problems in Russia where the bolts would completely freeze solid and become inoperable. I've read an account where German soldiers had to urinate on the bolts to warm them up enough to jar free (sorry, I don't have a reference).

We've all seen We Were Soldiers, with Mel Gibson. "You men said you needed to pee, lets cool off these Mortars."

Mmm...Im more of a garand guy since I usually miss the first shot on the k98 and then Im stuck reloading the next bullet =/

I saw it on the military channel, it was quite a while ago in the series Guns of the World. Your right that it does not apply to all kar 98's but the factory did make a bunch. As for storming the battlefield with them, they would of had to wether they liked it or not, because that was the gun they were issued.

It doesnt matter if they were issued it, odds are they didnt get the gun at the battlefield. I dunno if soldiers do this now, or if they did then, maybe this would just be me, Im gonna check to make sure my sights are right before I even think about going into a battle.

Well said Doc, this isn't Enemy at the Gates and German soldiers weren't given their K98 right before charging into the Ardennes. When I was issued my M16 and before qualifying I had to go through:

1) Grouping - making sure that you all the shots fall within a tight group, no matter how off-target the group actually is (testing the barrel, stability, and your aiming really).

2) Sighting - Applying a tight group to a bullseye. Make adjustments after 15 rounds or so, low-left, high-right, a tick on the sights here, a tick there. Pretty soon you're nailing bullseye with that group and you're ready to hit the qualifying range.

Very rarely was there a physical sight malfunction that prevented accurate shooting. Sometimes the sights were really jacked up, but we always adjusted them. I'm guessing any senior non-commissioned officer in the German Army would have been able to determine when a soldier was bad at shooting and when a rifle was just sighted horribly. I don't think this made as big an impact on the war as, say, Schindler's Jews producing "not a single round that could actually be fired". I believe he ordered the prisoners to mis-calibrate the machines to make that true. Bullets and munitions are much harder to test (read: impossible on a case-by-case basis) than rifles.

Well most of you say the thompson is a noob tube. I say the Kar98 is a noob tube the only problem is once the Kar fires i can light your butt up faster then you can say Oh ( insert swear word here). Sure the Kar is one shot one kill and very easy to use the thompson does take skill. I use it most of the time but out of a whole match i only get around 5 RHS were the Kar is very cheap. Point shot and there dead. I hardle ever use the Kar and i can get a Positive K/d.

A warning to all you Kar98 lovers! You better make sure you dont miss that first shot or your gonna be dead!

Want more proof the Thompson takes skill! Ill make a post if you want to know.

Proof that the thompson takes skill, I'd like to see that. I suck with the k98k, since I'm not into all this strafing around, firing while running crap, but do I attempt to use it like an actual rifle from time to time. The only gripe I ever have with it, is that it is stronger than the garand. The garand should kill in 1 shot as well. I've heard people moan about class balances, but frankly, it's not supposed to be balanced. That's the reality of any conflict.

The Thompson doesnt take any more skill to use than any other weapon. Every veteran player that you ask (please, ask) is going to tell you that it's easier to pick up a thompson and kill someone than with a K98.

I don't know why I'm replying, I stopped listening after you called the K98 a noob tube :facewall::facewall::facewall::facewall:

you say its a noob tube then say this

A warning to all you Kar98 lovers! You better make sure you dont miss that first shot or your gonna be dead!

you pretty much just summed up why its NOT a noob tube, overpowered.. possibly but not very noob friendly at all

I am a Vet with the thompson and people that pick it up do not always get kills. I have picked up a Kar when i am out of ammo and one shot 2 kills with the Kar. you very rarely get 2 kills with one bullet with a thompsons.(i have done that.) The only reason why it is easier to get kills with the thompson is its a auto not single shot like the Kar. Kar has 5 bullets and the thompson 30. No duh, when you pick up a thompson you get kills. The thompson also has spread shots not one line. People who use the Kar are good at long range. So thus the Rushers with the Thompson have to dodge the fire and get close enough to kill the rifleman. More work with the rushes like in every war game.

Tis easier to pick em off then go charging into the field of battle.

1. most of my kills are rifleman. When teams need to be balanced i switch over and guess what not one single auto just rifles, sniper, and MG's. Now what does that tell you. They all go for the overpowered gun which noobs are drawn too. Like bugs to the zapper.

Before this becomes a huge flame/arguement thread I think a gun is based off your preference of play. Im not the kind of person to try and shoot people long distance with one shot, but Im not a gun who is gonna run in there with a Submachine gun and try to kill everyone like in the movies. I prefer the Machine Guns. Talk about a gun that is discredited as a noob gun. I can guarantee that there are players that when they have a machine gun its hard to kill them, even if they're in the open. And there are players that can sit in the most protected spot on a map and get picked off by anyone because they dont know what they're doing.

Ron is the kind of guy who kills you by staring at you, Dutch is the kind of guy who will swing his fists at you. It all depends on how you play.

It simply takes better aim, reaction time, and positioning to effectively use the kar98 than say the thompson or any other light weapon.
