Steam overlay not working in game

The usual shift + tab to view the steam overlay while in game is not working. It quit working before the steam update on both my machine and sheeebz machine, his started working again and mine has been on and off. After the update it quit working again but has worked on a few occasions.

Anybody know of a fix for this ?

Look at your game properties from the steam library and see if "Enable Steam overlay in-game" is checked.

Thats the first thing i checked, enabled it disabled it re-enabled it and it dont wanna play nice with me .

Is steam overlay enables in steam settings?
