8 golden wrenches destroyed.

i dont think of them as being selfish, they got THE rarest item in tf2, with only 100 made and only 100 will be made. community weapons and up may be rarer, but you get that for doing something. this was by chance. I would keep it, i would show it off and all that, but does keeping a rare item you found 100% legit make you selfish? nope. :p

Look at it from my point of view. Yes it may be rare but its something that can be replicated by a skin. Also it does nothing other than turn the people into gold statues. How often does an Engi get a kill with his wrench? Next to never. Why keep an item that only looks pretty, when you can destroy it and help children in need?

The way i see it, if they know its going on, yet still refuse to see it as a useless item that could be of better use being destroyed to help children in need, Yet they STILL dont destroy it. Thats selfish. Forget the wrench, help a child. Thats what I say on the matter. If you want a golden wrench, go make a skin.

think of it like this, you get an autograph or something from a really famous movie star or whatever, its real and you got it signed from him/her. but at the same time you could throw it out and get a photo copy of that exact autograph, except you know it isnt the real deal. basically you can get a skin of anything, but that doesnt make it real. it still cant make golden statues and have golden wrench kill icons either.

as for still saying they are selfish, thats also not true. While they don't want to delete their own golden wrench, nothing is stopping them from actually donating to the cause. from your point of view its a donate to this charity and delete your wrench or your a horrible person, but its supposed to be a good thing, i would keep the wrench but i would still donate to this charity if i had the money. But does really keeping something cool make you a bad person? Noper. :p

Yeah, I have to side with Noise here. The act of keeping a wrench certainly doesn't make the non-participants greedy or selfish. They can donate just like the rest of us can.

Plus, not that I'm calling your integrity into question or anything, but I think that it's exceptionally easy to call them selfish when it's not your decision to make. It's also easy to say you would donate the wrench to the cause if you had one, when you don't.

Look at it this way: all of the people donating their wrenches look really good right now in comparison to those who won't be; that said, it isn't like keeping the wrenches are stealing children's lives or anything. The ones who are keeping it are markedly neutral; they simply look like jerks because of what a minority are doing.

Let's say we both had a million dollars, and I decided to donate 500,000 of it to charity. Are you suddenly a jerk because you haven't? No. I'm a good guy, and you're neutral. Lack of action doesn't make you a bad guy.
