hey guys, fatty here once again.

so something happen to my computer and so i had to reinstall windows 7 64 bit. everything went fine up to the point of installing the drivers for my 5850. the display drivers works fine, the problem is that i cannot get into Catalyst Control Center (CCC). it installs fine, but when i restart or try to open CCC up, i keep getting this -

its annoying the hell out of me, i have been searching since last night trying to find a solution. the first time i ever installed the drivers, they worked ok. but now for some reason they just wont work.

i would be fine with CCC not working, but i have a 24' acer and it leaves this border along the the monitor. i used CCC to stretch out the screen to make it full screen.

if anyone can help me with this, that would be great. thanks!

First, I would try to uninstall CCC and the drivers and reinstall. Also, you mentioned a border around the screen.... are you using HDMI, DVI, or VGA?

im using hdmi, have tried uninstalling like 10 times or more. i used dcpro and ccleaner to clean out registry. and that still doesnt help :/

EDIT: the HDMI is not your problem.........

Shadowesh (below) is right, if you can get some tech support from ATI, that will be your best bet.

However I did find some steps that fixed the issue for someone. Its kinda a process, but worth a try if you have the time.

1.I went to AMD website ... http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx
2.Downloaded and Saved to my desktop the “Full Catalyst Software Suite (Recommended)” for my PC and suitable for my Win 7 64-bit operating system (For now, it's ATI Catalyst version 10.2 ...about 71.3MB).
3. After saving the full Catalyst Suite to my desktop,
I next, Downloaded/Installed/Opened Ccleaner from ... http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
4.Clicked Analyze.
5.Ran Cleaner to delete the analyzed files.
6.Rebooted PC.
7.Opened Ccleaner again after reboot.
8.Clicked Tools (left column).
9.Clicked (highlighted) "Catalyst Control Center" (available in my system) and clicked Run Uninstaller (right column).
10.When uninstall was completed, then next, I uninstalled "ATI Catalyst Install Manager".
11.(if "Catalyst Control Center" is not in Ccleaner, go directly to "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" and uninstall it using CCleaner as in #9 above).
12.NEXT, I opened my downloaded “Full Catalyst Software Suite” that I downloaded to my desktop earlier.
13.UNINSTALLed everything by checking the “UNINSTALL” button ... DID NOT install yet ... there are still elements, like driver, not cleaned out yet by Ccleaner. Followed the steps of the Catalyst Suite and uninstalled everything, including the driver.
14. When done, rebooted PC.
15.Again, as in #12 above, I opened my downloaded “Full Catalyst Software Suite” that I downloaded to my desktop earlier.
16.This time, I INSTALLED the whole Suite by checking the INSTALL button ... installed everything.
18.Rebooted and my Catalyst Control Center worked great ... exactly as it should.

You should email ATI tech support about this. They have more in-depth technical expertise regarding these issues.
