We need a solution!

Just got off from another disappointing round of rush. Why? Well... half the team decided it would be a good idea to snipe on attack >_>

Don't get me wrong; this is perfectly acceptable if:
1 - Your sniping allows for sufficient cover for others to advance
2 - You the wookie are also advancing
3 - You're in the active combat zone (aka not in base at the start of a round)

None of these conditions were met however. Since this is often the case, we need to figure out some way to solve this.

Possible solutions:

-Encourage others to stop sniping and aid in a forward-moving assault
-Fight that much harder and take initiative to nab the MCOM's
-????
-Profit?

I know this is frustrating for a lot of you and we really do need to talk this one over since it spoils the whole purpose of RUSH

Just remember to press TAB and look at who's playing what. Then try to even it out, you'll never win especially when attacking if you have too many snipers.

Agreed. I played Rush for the second time today, and about half the team was snipers. It was kind of dissapointing, being my second time ever on the server.

well i dont know if this is possible but we could do something like in 2142 and DoD where you can limit the amount of certain classes, say 4 of each classes so it forces ppl to play a certain class if the others are full.

@Singular Point - agreed; used to be able to in BF2 and such...

@Krod the Towel - Can in almost every game that uses a class system... could we check w. leadership and see if that option is available to us via the updates that DICE put out regarding server control?

I doubt we would be able to control game play that much. It would turn a lot of people off. Although I would like to see it as well. TFC status!

Well I came from the DOD:S division and they have class limits like 2 snipers and 1 rocketeer on each team. However, in BC2 not all recons use sniper rifles. I know people are upset about snipers but they been around since the dawn of FPS. Just be glad they can't prone and they have to deal with bullet drop. :p

Counterstrike AWP is still the reigning champion of annoying snipers.

@the idea of restricting class sizes.

The idea has been brought up in the other divisions and I believe the answer will be the same here. eGO will not tell people what to play, let them play how they want to. If you want to win, instead of complaining about how everyone is playing sniper, try to encourage teamwork. I've yet to come across a team that won't change from sniper when the team starts working together.

@Ginga +1

I think the best way is for people to play more medic and engineer, people snipe because they don't want to approach the danger and die. Having a bunch of medics to revive people helps out a lot.

Support the Recon class, I know its stupid, but instead of sitting back and sniping, do what kawaii is doing and run around quickscoping and noscoping people. Others will catch on and will start doing it, then it will die out. Just like MW2.

Just talk with the guys. If they're good sports, usually they will change classes. Start it yourself: switch to assault or something, and ask guys to get in the chopper or tank with you. Just don't yell and curse :p

and if all else fails, just rage quit. Better than not having fun, right? It is just a game, after all.

I'm a 'get behind the opposite teams spawn' sniper, which works well on attacking. The wookie tactic is always the best though. A sniper that can move with the assault team is the best.

Sure could have used you last night then :/ They were non-responsive to anything of me trying to convince them to move up and not snipe so much :(

Tried my best...

Depend on where your playing.
I think Regular and HC make a big difference.
Take off the 1 hit sinper shot in HC and see how many people will stop playing sinper in HC
I play sinper all the time in regular, but rarely in HC because I might fear I will suck with it after I play with it in HC too much.

I play sinper effective as any other units, and contribute as much.
And here is why (from the perspective in a regular server):

Motion Mine
-Very very effective when capping points. You can see the enemy before they see you. You can react by running away to ambush them from behind :scared:!! Or just book it if you see too much enemies comming.
-Also effective when enemies are capping point. Throw motion mine in those cap point, and you know where they're all hiding.
Mini map ftw.

Sniper Rifle
-The sniper rifle is actually more effective in close-mid range than in far range in this game. You can basically 1 hit players at close~mid range with mag. ammo at least. Even if you dont 1 hit, by the time the guy turns around to see you, the rifle wouldve been ready for the second shot.
-At far range it gets harder and less effective because of how the engine for the bullets work for this game. Even if you see an enemy sniper at far range, you might still take a few shot before you can even hit him because of the bullet drops. And even if you manager to hit him and not get a heatshot him. You might have lost you chance of killing him because he wouldve ran for cover.

And I think most of the time is not even the class balancing, but the teams.
I was just in reg. conquest and have a 3 map losing streak. No one seem to care about balancing the team. I was playing recon most of the time and at 1 point I was leading at 800 or more points than the 2nd person on my team. That how uneven the team is.

Main point is bad players wants to camp with recon class. Good players will be more effective with them. So is a matter of how many good players vs bad players in the team. If they're bad at sinping and not contribute to the game, what makes you think they can do any better with other class. Hell, I could spam "Q" at that guy before he can even drop me a medic pack :chair:.
So if we can solve the problem or just help out with the team balancing there would be less of this. Not matter of class, but players itself IMO.
