Odd lag intervals >:|

I don't know if anybody else has been having this problem, but whenever I open counterstrike this will happen about 10 minutes after I start playing and it is VERY annoying - I have all settings on medium (2009 Macbook, Nvidia 9400, Core 2 Duo, 4gb ram), and I run normally around 60 fps, but at continuous intervals the FPS will dip down to like 15 every one or two seconds then go back up to 60. This makes the game nearly unplayable, and eventually goes away after a few minutes, but sometimes comes back. I have no idea what would cause this - i usually play with no background applications but sometimes I have safari minimized.

Any ideas? It has been getting really annoying lately, and it sucks when I'm in a scrim and have to just camp for a few minutes because of this annoying occurrence.

it happened to me last night several times --- turns out that during those lag periods, Steam decided it was going to update my games.

I made sure that nothing was being downloaded. I even closed all my other applications.

1. Contact your ISP.
2. Is anyone else in your house downloading or using the internet?
3. If you're using WiFi, and don't have a lock, get one, because they might be like me and steal yours...

Post your numbers from pingtest.net Here and speedtest.net Here. Mose-over and select Dallas, TX as your testing location.

Please make sure you're the only one in the house on the internet for these tests and, if at all possible, directly plugged into your internet modem. Run these tests again with everything "business -as- usual" (everyone on the internet and all equipment plugged in).

After you provide these numbers to us, we can assist you further.

I shall repeat my previous post - during the last Steam update, an issue has occured that is allowing Steam to have a game running and download updates at the same time - this is not supposed to happen.

uh well run a virus scan and what OS do you have xp or vista and also try checking the temps on your macbook cause laptops and macs get hot or overloaded with to much work

I'm running steam on my mac. On OSX. Cause they have that, y'know.
