well i am just sick of my old, so im gettin a new one :p. Any recommandations? what is important when u buy a new vidcard and stuff. Will my motherboard be able to handle it? Budget is around 100 ? (i don't wanna get to expensive, just a good one that can handle cod4 and i hope cod blackops) I don't know what kinda motherboard i have, so please explain how to find out on windows XP. (thats rights, its not a smiley :p)

Try NVIDIA 9800 GT or the 9800 GTX+. Both are good cards that can support CoD4. It should also run Black Ops, just not on high maybe.

well this pc is around 4 years old now, i dunno if my motherboard will be able to pull it :(. And it has to be a quiet one.

Both those 9800's will run Black Ops on high res. Then again it is dependent upon your other specs you have crammed into that case. Open your case and take a look see what your mother board number is. It should be clearly printed onto the front of it.

Get CPU-Z and just click the mainboard tab. So much quicker. And it will tell you the other specs, too.

Other option: Go to Start -> Run - > Type in dxdiag

It'll open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (works for XP, Vista, and Win7).

It'll tell you current video card, RAM, motherboard, and CPU.

Besides getting the motherboard information via CPU-Z or Dxdiag, we need to know what's your power supply unit and how much it is? (Ex. Thermaltake 800watt PSU, Hiper 650watt PSU)

A GPU (aka Video card) is one of the biggest power suckers in the PC so knowing how much power your PC is offering will be important.

my motherboard with cpu-z = ECS - Nettle 2

i dunno how to see my motherboard on snipeye's way, don't know how to find my power suply unit either

Once you type that command in the Run prompt, it'll pop up automatically:

CPU: AMD Blah blah blah
RAM: 2084MB Blahblablah
Motherboard: ECS Blahblahblah

To find the power supply unit; two methods.

1) Crack open that case! The information will be posted on the side of the power supply inside the case. Look for a small, rectangular object where you plug the power cord into. That's the PSU. Someone else needs to give you the math, but you need to add together the amount of AMPs that are typically shown.

2) If its a bought for PC, from Dell or HP, find the computer model and search for it online. You should be able to find the specifications, including how much power, of the PC.

That's gonna spell a problem then. I'll let Phobus recommend a video card, but 300watt PSU will definitely limit your options, though it's not so bad when we're talking sub-100 cards.

Actually, just hold down the Windows key, and hit R, then type in
dxdiag, then hit enter.
Copy and paste the following highlighted information.

To see video card (aka GPU), go to the display tab in Phobus' image. Phobus, hope you have a GPU recommendation, as all I can think of are very cheap GPUs for a 300watt PSU.

Oh I do. I have a few. I'm just seeing whether or not if he has AGP, PCI, or PCIe.
