new vid card

does this thing makes alot of noise? Cauz i would like a silent card. Not to loud. As i game in the living room, and my dad and bro need to work there sometimes. So it can't make much noise :D. Also, i hope it doesn't take to much power. Because everything else has to work to. also, when i look to the specs it says: 400 Watt or greater power supply (550 Watt for ATI CrossFire technology in dual mode) is recommended. Are u guys absolutly sure my pc can handle this? Or do u recommand a new powersupply. something around 100 € perhaps ?

also, i prefer nvidia, so anyone got any good hits on that ? :)

if you have an older motherboard, the chances are that you cannot old a dual slot card, so i bought the Asus HD 5750, the slightly downgraded version of the HD 5770. when i first bought my 5770 i found out that it wouldn't fit so i had to take it back. the ASUS (only single slot version) 5750 was the next best one, for about 170 USD on www.newegg.com. if you are looking for high performance on a single slot card, the XFX HD 5770 was just released. not sure of the price but it would be worth checking out

Nvidia sucks in that price range. :/
If you want a silent graphics card, this one is. Literally. There isn't a fan on it.

my powersupply can't handle it oO. Its 800 PSU i need, i only have 300 :p

A 5770 doesn't need 800 watts. It uses 75W of power. It can be done on a good 400W PSU.

well some guy said, that if it doesn't have a coolin, i can't play for long on it. Thats not what i want, i need a good gfx, that i can use for minimum 8 hours nonstop.

It's a passive cooler. It's meant to be SILENT. You can still play it for hours on end, it'll just get a little hotter than a normal card.

That guy doesn't understand cooling setups then. All video cards have a cooling setup. The difference is Active or Passive. Active cooling typically uses heatsinks which gather the heat from the GPU, and from there, releases it by an active unit, a fan. Passive cooling does not have the fan with it; only the heatsinks. In that case, passive cooling relies on airflow within your case to cool it off. If you got a case with good airflow, then that's fine.

Anyways, if you're open to buying a new power supply, then that means we got more room to work with. Question is; is your price limit now 200 pounds or 100 pounds for both GPU + PSU?
