Well like the title says its my first day. So does anyone have any tips or would like to share their experiences?

I'm just going into grade 10 this year, so I was only just in your position
First day might be interesting. Your going to be with a lot of people you don't know, and every riotines changed.
Important things to remember:
1. Locker combination. Be able to do it in less than 10 seconds.
2. Meet everyone you can, but don't make friends just yet. Get to know all the people in your classes and the rest of the grade
3. Have plenty of paper. First day, expect lots of info only though, and listening to the teachers.
4. When teachers say "High school is harder than elementary school," their wrong, it's just different

Enjoy it! Its will be the last 4 of the not so serious year in your schooling career. When you hit college all the jokes and stuff go out the window. Dont get me wrong you will still have fun in college, its just alot harder to goof off as much as you will in high school.
If your high school is a typical high school with all the cliques and whatnot. Just find one that you fit into and you will make friends quick. On the other hand if your high school is like mine where everyone is friends with pretty much every one then you have nothing to worry about. Just make friends.
Again, enjoy these 4 years man. Im on my Senior year of High School and will be heading off to college sooner than I will know.
Just a warning though, dont let the years pass you by. Actually go and join clubs and do stuff. Dont waste these precious years. Get out there, have some fun, and be yourself and you will find high school to be easier and not as horrible as TV shows like to make it out to be.

Im not a real social person and mostly hang out with the friends. I don't talk much either so problems there getting to know all the people from other schools but in time i guess ill get to know them. lol [edit] lol yeah everyone i went to school with pretty much knows everyone but idk how its going to be with people from the other schools

lol dont sweat it too much man. Im a pretty shy person myself. The trick to it is, put yourself into interesting conversations around you, without coming across as nosy or an eavesdropper. And once you successfully enter the conversation without coming across as a wierdo, stay in the conversation and dont say anything that would make people think your mean,rude, or anything else that is bad. All it takes is 1 conversation to make friends.
In short.
Jump into a conversation without coming across as nosy or rude.
Stay in it and talk to the people inside the conversation

2. The terms are interchangeable. I sometimes refer to them as "fresh meat" among my friends.

4. It only existed in the 70's and 80's. Seniors are too busy doing other things to waste time on Freshmen these days.
5. Wood Tech does make you sound nerdy. Call it Carpentry or Shop either one works.

The cafeteria was the commons at my school.
The main thing is to do good in your classes. Everything else doesn't really matter.
Do your homework and make sure it's complete. Try and do a good job with quality, but if you just can't do it due to time constraints or other reasons, just do the whole thing, even if it isn't right.
And for the love of god, go to class. I have seen tons of friends ditch class, and it's almost an auto fail in my school. Plus your parents get hell-pissed at you.

Do your homework first-thing you get back from School. First term is the easiest and simplest term and creates a great curve for your final/overall mark. Trust me, honor roll for all three terms for the last two years.

Im gonna be a junior and Im pumped. High school was a pain when I was a freshman everyone thought I was a stoner because I stay up late and play games and do 3D modeling when Im depressed because doing what I love brings me enjoyment. I have bags under my eyes because I game late and yet I manage a life and a friends and I ignore people and have had my sets of school fights. I love high school but Im not the best student because I love gaming. DO NOT LET GAMING KILL YOUR GRADES LIKE ME! I have a sucky GPA (grade point average)
lol, high school is not a relaxed place unless you let it be. I (and my IB classmates) got an average of 3-5hours of sleep a night (5 in freshman year, and it steadily declined into senior year when all our important things became due; heck, the entire two weeks before the EE due date our entire senior IB class was up all night for days on end to finish that massive thing.), and that's just finishing homework.

Really, Highschool is no big sweat. Except math, do your math, and you will be ok. Play sports, trust me, you make so many friends its unbelievable. Also, if you like a girl, get her quick, guys in highschool are "ruthless". There is NO SUCH THING as a Freshman Hunt, or whatever, unless your one of those kids everyone hates for some reason, then the freshman hunt goes on all year.
