Quick Scoping and the problems it brings

You guys are soooo confused.

Quick scoping is when you are with your significant other and you see a young lady with a charming derri?re.. er... demeanor and you quickly burn her image onto your retinas before your significant other has time to turn and gauge your reaction to this serendipitous distraction.

That is what it's all about.

The problem's come when your "scope" is not quick enough. Let me tell you sport, they ain't trivial.

hmmm this informational thread has turned into a bash the game/guns thread. come on guys, there are something in game we cant change and just have to learn to play with. I know i get upset and frustrated playing, at that point i just step back and do something else for a little while, its not real life you can walk away and come back later. so with that said Have fun and kill one another :) you'll respawn soon enough

Hey I have an Idea lets not bash people and the weapons yes people will no scope if you need to know its easy. no it does not change the game or anything.

so please keep this thread respectful thanks :)

Overall, I just wanted to start this thread to see if people wanted to speak out about it. Thank you.

Way to go Turkey, your first thread just so happens to be one of the most hotly controversial threads EVER!

I'm just kidding bro, we just get carried away with stuff like this.

The thread is about quick-switching and quick-scoping, nobody is arguing no-scopes. I agree we shouldn't be bashing people, but asking us not to argue the weapons or how they're used when the OP specifically asked us to discuss these things is a stretch. I don't think we've crossed any boundaries here and I definitely don't think heated and opinionated debating should be stopped so long as it stays civil. Nobody's calling anybody names and people seem to be responding to arguments with their own arguments. I don't think there's been a serious departure from civility so far, borderline maybe, but not lock-worthy (if it gets locked I'll be eternally wrong oh nooo). The thread may have become slightly hijacked and transitioned into a discussion of realistic combat styles but that's sweet! Let the ideas flourrisshhh. Would love to hear back from the OP to see if he's found any kind of closure.

remember guys quick scoping doesnt suddenly make you amazing, like everything else in dods (and real life) you need to practise to get good
i only really quick scope if im sprinting and an enemy appears round a corner just our of range for a no scope, other than that i find no real advantage for using it, although the lag i have makes it pretty much useless anyway.

the fact that one of the fastest snipers ive played against (sumac) doesnt even quick scope shows you that chances are the guy is just good anyway

There's also scripts that when you go to scope into your sniper scope there is no delay. It's pretty cheap if you ask me. There's also another script that does the quick switch for you. I think that's stupid to. Everyone I know who quick switches either double taps Q like me or has it bound to some other key.

Yeah, the scripts use simple and legal commands and they're so well-crafted that it's hard to detect if a player is using. Fortunately, you can usually tell if a player is using a script within 5-8 shots from the sniper. In my experience that is how often someone will botch or mistime a quick switch. It's hard to be consistent like a script, and sometimes the situation doesn't demand a quick-switch anyways.

Dear eGO Community,

I apologize if Quick Scoping has already been discussed previously but I just wanted to start a thread with hopefully more specifics. I play quite frequently on the Charlie map and of lately I have not been playing it. I have found that the map is usually dominated, mostly when the population is around twenty to twenty-eight people, by Axis snipers. Now I am aware that Axis have the advantage during the early parts of the map but I think it is clear when something is askew.

Not to call any players out but I have taken a fairly decent demo of a Sniper who averages around a 30:1 kill per death ratio. After watching this video it is clear he is Quick Scoping every single time, so much that you can hardly see the skin of his rifle when he is letting off multiple shots.

Now I am not trying to complain that this is unfair, I know that is it not a hack, but I definitely think it turns players away from the map when day after day this is happening. I hate seeing my favorite map being turned into a sniper fest the majority of the time and I think others may agree with me. Overall, I just wanted to start this thread to see if people wanted to speak out about it. Thank you.

Turkey,

I believe I know which player you are talking about and he was actually just banned for using a hack. While quick-scoping does indeed present an advantage, it isn't a 30:1 advantage. We positively ID'd him as a previous hacker as well as a current hacker. That problem should be taken care of.

Carry on with all of your quick-scoping shenanigans.

Well said.

Quick scoping is necessary as a sniper, unless you sit in a window for an hour and never move up. If you "assault snipe" like I do, you'll probably come around a corner and (like tank alley as an Ally on Donner) have an assault coming at you... quick scope or you're dead, those are your choices.
