Ventrilo help

Hi folks,

I just downloaded Ventrilo and wanted to get started using it. I have it installed, and I know how to connect, etc. My problem occurs when I try to talk.

Sometimes, when I push and/or release my chat button, it makes an annoying sound (*ding!*). Sometimes it doesn't ding, and I think the problem is fixed, but it always starts up again.

I went to Events and clicked "All Nothing", but that didn't take care of the sound. I'm fairly computer illiterate, and don't even know what to look for next.

I hope this is the right spot for this - thanks so much in advance for your help!

But yeah, it's there to let you know that you hit the button so you don't start talking without it on. Useful imo, should leave it on, you'll get use to it.

thats why mines on, to know if im talking or not xD

Thanks for the tip - I appreciate it.

I went ahead and turned the key clicks off, but it's still dinging. I don't want to leave it on because some of the folks I want to talk to are seriously annoyed by it (and it kind of makes me grit my teeth too).

Uh, the people your talking to shouldn't be able to hear the key clicks, they are all client side. Unless its reverberating through your mic, or its a different dinging sound.

Try a different push to talk key? The dings might be a different system sound, because if you turned off keyclicks you shouldn't hear the beep were talking about.

Thanks Cut Chem!st - I changed the PTT key, and now it only dings when I first join the server. As soon as I get out of the lobby, it stops (and doesn't go back on if I go back into the lobby - yay!). Now no one should crank at me. Many thanks!!

lol the ding is really annoying right?
