On the flight to Pittsburgh, I tried to figure out slayr's and KILLER's names, but I couldn't come up with anything besides the obvious that maybe they are both good at killing. Also, I couldn't help but notice that slayr "doesn't even work 365 days a year" and 365-the 357 on his name leaves 8--which is exactly how many DoD:S leadership there are. I then shifted my attention to considering jeod66's name, but it seemed to be nothing but gibberish. And then 66? Route 66? It was all I could come up with. 'Is there something on route 66?'
I landed in Pittsburgh, having no idea where to start looking for a guy I had never met. Fortunately, I had been through this enough in the past few weeks that it didn't really bother me at all.
It also helped when I saw a young guy standing just outside the gate with a sign that read, "YOSPANKDAWG"
"jeod?" I asked, as I approached him.
"Yes..." he said, looking almost as confused as I must have appeared, "Warren told me you were coming and suggested I meet you down here."
'Sneaky sneaky Blue indeed...' I thought.
"You can call me Jonathan instead though." he said, before adding, "Let's go get some grub."
We didn't talk about any of the cover-up business on the way to, or during, lunch. I wasn't too concerned, because I could see that jeod wasn't going to just suddenly get rid of me.
In fact, once we were finished eating, he spoke the words on my mind, "Ok, so let's talk about this conspiracy theory."
"What is going on?" I asked him.
"I can't tell you that, Corey. You should know that." he responded. We sat in silence for a few seconds until he added, "Listen to me. Nothing is happening other than the game. You can play as Germans or Americans. You shoot people. Are other shooting games plotting and planning too?. It takes hard work to run this clan and division. Take a look at the work, over the years, we've put into the community so we can be united, even coming together from different states. That's all that is happening."
He seemed convincing, and I almost felt bad for essentially negating all of the work our leadership puts into things, but I still didn't believe his claims. I decided to change the subject.
"I've been trying to figure out what your name means..." I said.
"What my name means?" he asked.
"Well yeah...all of the leadership's names mean something or are there for a reason, right? That's what Blue lead me to believe..." I explained.
"Perhaps he didn't just mean our gamer names..." he threw out there.
I could sense that he wasn't just trying to throw me off as Spray had done. With that, I said, "You realize...you've just confirmed to me that there is, after all, something I need to uncover, right? Why would you do that?"
He stared into nothingness for a while, and then turned back to me very somber looking. "Sometimes I feel like I am 2/3 of the way to pure evil...like I am just one piece away from it entirely. I feel like I need to use that piece somewhere else--to keep it there before I make the conversion completely..."
This last statement threw me off a bit. I thought about it for a while, and then he broke the silence with, "Do you know what your name means?"
"YoSpankDawg? It's kinda just gibberish. Came about by accident." I answered.
"I remember that story--you set out to defeat somebody, he tried to stop you, and you succeeded anyways." he summarized.
I think I knew what he was getting at, but he then soon added, "I actually meant your real name. Corey. Derived from Gaelic it means 'the spear'...but from Germanic it is 'God's peace.'"
"I thought you just pointed out how I am causing trouble?" I said.
"Right now...yes. It's a good description, but we all live up to our names sooner or later." he told me.
"Where will I bring peace?" I questioned, "I suspect something is going on, but there is currently peace..."
"A gardener does not grow plants, but merely ensures that they continue to grow on their own." was his answer. "It's time to go."
He let me think about that one on the way back to the airport.
