EGO Is My Life!
I need one! I overclocked, ran a lot of benchmarks, and even made a graph for you folks. :)
My conclusion on this motherboard: It sucks for overclocking. There is hardly any difference between having an Athlon II 240 at stock or almost 1GHz above stock.

Test Machine:
ECS A780GM-A Ultra Motherboard
8GB RAM at 800MHz (stock), 980MHz (3.36), and 900MHz (3.78), with 5-5-5-15 and 6-6-6-15 (for 980MHz)
Athlon II 240
eVGA 8800GT @ 625 core 925 memory
Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 90MB/s read/write speed
H50 with the stock fan and another fan in a push/pull exhaust set up

All benchmarks were ran at 1920x1080 at the highest settings, excluding AA and PhysX (for Mafia II)

I think the reason is because of the HT link. I can only put the multiplier at 10, 9, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Yeah, 1. Wtf.

Well, yeah that mobo isn't great at all for overclocking, but either way games appreciate quads a lot more now. To give your system the benefit of the doubt, RE5 and Lost Planet 2 are pretty consoly and doesn't really do much with overclocking. Mafia II also may be the same.

Either way, that dual is getting kind of behind in tech, so hopefully you can sell it and upgrade.

Still. I was expecting more than a 5fps, hell, even less than 1fps difference from 2.8 to 3.78.
I might bench a source engine game. I'm thinking TF2. Well, maybe Alien Swarm since it just came out. :p

Mhm, source engine games are pretty CPU dependent, unlike most games where you don't see any difference in fps. Bad company 2 as well is a combination of CPU dependent/GPU dependent and sort of consoly and not very optimized.

Going from 2.4 to 3.2 on a q6600 in tf2 netted me like 15 fps higher mins.

I think I will do benchmarks for L4D2, TF2, and Alien Swarm. How does that sound?

Sounds good, L4d2 actually destroys tf2 in optimization with multi-core support. Tf2 is has FPS problems in 32 player servers, but then again 32 player servers weren't supposed to happen.

There's no doubt you should upgrade, but it's always nice to see benchmarks :p

Also, you can show the buyer of the comp the benchmarks.

Exactly my thoughts.
Alright. Going to go test at stock now.

Source Engine Suite :p

All games were ran at max detail @ 1920x1080, with no AA

This motherboard is trash for overclocking. :/

Well, you gained a pretty nice amount of FPS. But it's still pretty bad for overclocking.

Don't tell the person buying it that though ^^

Nope! I'll just make a new graph showing all of the games at stock.
I need to learn how to make graphs in Excel. I used some random one online. >.>
But in my ad, I never say it's a good overclocking motherboard. But it sure is reliable. Been running it for a long time with 0 motherboard related issues.

LOL, I did that with only $230.

2 x 9800GTX.... up to and above 170fps DOD"S ----- 100FPS TF2 ---- 80(!!!!!)+ BF:BC2 on max vid settings..... total $260 plus tax.... laughed my way to the bank!!

edit:sorry" 730mhz Core/ 1825mgz Shader/1225 x 2 9800GTX + 2 monitors

my mosterr!

Tell Me, Do I have enough airflow in my case! oh, ontop is a 230mm fan.... she's my bit of gameing pleasure

oh yea Intel>AMD .. if you think otherwise.. lets pit the Intels vs AMDs Competition.( No i3,i5,i7/ and AMDs lower class equivilent

(I am doing this in all jest and for fun. But if the AMDs would like to face the Intel Quad series, bring it baby)

with leaderships OK.
.....
we face each other on the Battlefield - lets face each other CPU VS CPU+points for video cards and monitor setup.I'll Make a Day of it - and if leaderrship had anything they wanted to do a giveaway - you must be present in an eGO server at the time the names are pulled and you are entered to win a _____Fill in the Blank__Leadership :))

with the onset of the eGO Mod Division...... I am happy to see that such a community grasps change so quickly. The new Icon is very nice!!

The Above would span all eGO Steam supported games.

What the hell is this? It seems like spam.

Cut, why aren't you on my friends list on Steam? Add me. It's in my signature.
I haven't really been on steam since the starcraft 2 beta/release, but yeah I'll go ahead and add you. I've been logging in time to time.

These threads have been turning into 1 on 1 dialogue anyway between me and you, lol. 16 posts and it's just been me and you posting, minus the random post.

1. yea that mobo isnt great.

2. Having 4 dimms kills OCing ability. Try it with only 2, or even 1, and you might be able to go higher

I might try this later. Maybe. I'll see if I can boot at 3.99GHz. That's a LOT of voltage, though. It's weird, I can increase my bus by 5MHz, but when I get to 270, the next option is 280. :/
