LOTRO Question

:confused1: Alright, so tomarrow is my last day of college for 3-4 weeks and I will have a break and wanted to start a new game. Everywhere I go online I see all this talk of LOTRO. I tried it once and quit because I just didnt like the interface and I was already in 20 minutes doing the regular grind that every mmo seems to have these days. I play games primarilly for the PVP aspect, but do like a good pve experience with a wonderful storyline/scenery as well. I really do want to like LOTRO since i've grown up a giant fan of the books and movies as well.

What is everybodies opinion on the game, and why would you recommend trying it again, or not trying it? Specifics would be great, from endgame, to pvp etc.

Thanks!

Its a great game. The first bit of the game (the beginning area mainly) is a bit of a grind, but its completely optional. The main story really kicks off after archet is burned( if you are playing as the race of Man) the Pvp is a bit stale but fun, they are going to improve it after the F2P launch.

If you want help getting out of the beginning area and have things explain, join Brandywine and Pm Bayde or Aliyia. ill help you. =)

Yeah the elf/dwarf intro sucks, the Man one is really awesome.

I just did my Hunter class quest, and it was awesome. I'm level 16 and just got to Bree and am talking to Strider.

The Intros aren't great, but you should truck it, the game gets really fun.

Thanks guys for your response. I will redownload another free trial and get started with it :) I will probobly join your server as its always nice to play with fellow clanmates. And help starting off would be great :)

THanks!

Hmm its hard to say weathe ryou will like the game agin or not. Not much has changed with LOTRO. I would suggest trying the trials and go from there. If you are really into pvp then another game to look into would be Age Of Conan online. Only problem with that game is its lack of huge community... so you kinda stick with 1 of the 4 majory guilds, to me though this is fine due to knowing your apponit on a more personal relationship :) Anywho like I said stick with the trials until you find the one you love. from one gamer to another, try before you start reading... everyone likes diffrent things.

Yeah, I want to play LOTRO for the storyline, and to be apart of a community, I own age of conan, played it for about a day and quit because I didnt see a single other player the entire time. Maybe ill give it another shot.

The lotro trial has been shut down b/c its so close to F2P launch. Try to find someone who has a buddy key and they can give it to you so you can play for free for 14 days.

the only other option is to get a beta key.

I recommend giving it another shot I tried it once and hated it got bored real quick then I tried it again a month or so ago and loved it now I can't get off it even though I haven't been on in 11 or so days xD your second time around give it a longer shot and get into the story a bit and like epic said if you need help join the Brandywine server and add his characters and mine Aarririan

Awesome... Dont think i'll be able to find a buddy key, but F2P is just around the corner so I'll be on for shot #2 then. I'll be sure to join that server as well.

I just downloaded the f2p client. Made a character on Brandywine but didn't get to play yet. If I find the game interesting maybe I'll see you guys online =p (wasn't too pleased with the graphics/style from what I saw >_>)

I started to play it the other day.

(wasn't too pleased with the graphics/style from what I saw >_>)

I've maxed the graphics settings on the standard download it it looks pretty good too me considering it's been out for a while and is an MMO....

I am on Brandywine as a hobbit burglar. Also started a human hunter but only did the intro story.

i tried the game out. i think right now im a lvl 13 or 14 dwarf champion but im losing interest pretty fast. just don't have the time to throw into a giant mmo like that. it is a pretty fun game tho, but i also dislike the idea of needing to buy almost everything that isn't mandatory in a game

If you are referring to quests packs and/or mounts.... not a big issue really. lol. No need to get packs until in the 30s. and a mount....once you are lvl 30 you SHOULD have enough Turbine points and gold to get one. The riding skill is only 195 store points.

plus Point cards are coming out soon, so 10 bucks gets you close to 1000 store points.

Right now, the LOTRO Store has the Riding skill on sale - 75% off, only 49 points as opposed to it's regular price 195 points.

I would suggest if you play lotro, non-sub, then buy it as soon as you can as this is something you will need to purchase if you haven't already.

i have the game too
lvl 52 hunter elf
and lvl 22 champion dwarf
the game is a great alternative to WOW
