Hello eGO members!!! My day was awesome and I hope yours was as well.

Now that I've said hello, I'd like to ask you guys for a favor!! I would like your opinions on a few on the maps.

Please include:
-What you like
-What you don't like
-Advantages / Disadvantages
-What you'd like to see
-Any other thoughts you have

-de_dust
-cs_office
-highschool


You may be wondering why I'm asking these questions. Well, let me keep you waiting no longer. I have designed a few levels here and there and I have been tasked with creating a NEW level. I hope to make it an ULTIMATE level so I'd like to know the best parts of some popular levels and see if I can bring many into one and make a highly enjoyable and FAIR map. I hope i have some replies! Any input is appreciated!

What I like: I like how it is always populated and has some competetive players in it.
What I don't like: Sometimes too many people on mic and lags a little when server is completely full

What I like: I like how there are pubs in there that are willing to help our server out and that want to join eGO
What I don't like: Barely populated. hard to play with 4 people.

Cs_Office:

What I like: I like all the pubs that are in there. Makes it more challenging
What I don't like: Always full. Hard to get in.

De_Highschool:

What I like: Competetive map. Howns your skills in rushing and long range aiming.
What I don't like: So many campers, makes it hard for gameplay to be intense and fun.

I like close quarters combat, myself. I don't like camping but I feel the need for long range support is necessary so one idea for the map I'm creating is creating "sniper/camper spots" but making the risk of being in that spot dangerous. Hopefully with exploding barrels.

I also favor the office/dust2 map and I think having a map with both hostages/bomb would be nice. Creating a sort of race to either blowing the hosties up or rescuing them in time. I think there would be multiple ways that funnel down into more close quarters. But that's just one thought and too far ahead to tell anything.
 
i like playing jail because its so addicting but at the same time i hate it. its a viscus cycle that never ends

What I HATE: The lighting. Whenever I play dust/2 it's extremely bright for me so I don't really enjoy playing.

de_dust2:
What I like: It's fair and good for scrims.
What I hate: Once again, the lighting. I would prefer dust2 re-textured. Something like de_dust2_mariostyle.

Highschool:
What I like: Fun map, perfect lighting, fair for both teams. Best thing in highschool is the music. I can say this is the map I like the most out of all maps besides de_dust2_mariostyle.
What I hate: Scouters in West Hall.

cs_office:
What I like: Pubs who come in and take 25 points from other people.
What I hate: When they take 25 points from me.

I can! I'm actually attempting to brain storm a mod(my head hurts). But since my job doesn't have any projects going right now I'm going to make a CS:S map. :chair:

I have some ideas I want to try out and see what the "fun factor" is.

dust2
Always has a good amount of people. When you get two good teams, it's really fun. Unfortunately T's usually suck unless all the good players go T (rare but happens).

What I generally like about maps
:
-Effective choke points
-Tricky camping spots (the bushes in high school, and lots of nooks and crannies in nightfever)
- A rush option which will be over a long distance and one that will have more of a short distance

Now some feedback on your ideas:

The hostage and bomb rescue won't be a race, it WILL be a camp fest.
The exploding barrels will get old, people will just shoot at them and break a snipers cover before they move out of their cover.

Just trying to give feedback on your ideas.

But I really like how you're surveying people for map ideas. Best of luck on your mapping !
 
Counter strike lacks some interactve bits of maps. They are just static levels to fight on. Making them dynamic could be the key.
I've said too much already :p

Sure, I'm at AT&T right now working until 7:00pm CST. I should be done with my new map by tomorrow(as long as my gf don't make me go with her.) So I'll let you see that.

Exactly my thoughts! I think that's why I'm addicted to making deathrun maps so much.
