Obviously there are some CTs who cannot be trusted with CT power, but shouldn't be banned from the community of eGO servers. I think CT bans should be able to given for stuff like accidental MFKs or plainly just server disruption. Like 48 hour CT ban for those who accidental MFK with a grenade or something. Bans are a bit strict on players who aren't totally bad for eGO in general.

You don't "accidental" MFK or "accidental" Server disruption, This is not kindergarten and even in kindergarten you need to own your actions, this kind of actions are very disruptive and ruin everyone round not matter what you say, if they are disruptive as a CT they will be disruptive as a T if they cannot be disruptive as CT, this is a -1 for me, or well maybe a +1 if you want a 1 week CT ban because of gunplant or talking over warden ;)

I partially support this. To clarify, allow us to CTBan for Two hours, AND; stop the timer on a CT ban when the player leaves. The player should be on server for their ban to tick down, and here is why.

Currently, there is policy which implores admins to CT ban for things rather than straight up banning (there of course are caveats that I'm not allowed to get into.

The problem we see as staff is say I CTBan PC for an hour for like 3 FK'S, (Enough to be MFK, but there is "Ex" extenuating circumstance. The player now just leaves. They come back tomorrow and repeat. Now, I might not be on that tomorrow to handle it, and there isn't a record attached that we can view.

So they effectively learned nothing and effectively took a break and got away with it. Not very conducive to curving bad behavior or an effective means of punishment.

The player should feel punished. Making it based on 1 hour played VS an hour irl will give CT bans more lasting effects.

There isn't a downside here.
People who get banned by this unless falsely CTBanned are forced to reflect on their punishment. If waiting an hour in game is too unbearable for the MFK and Server Disruptions, then they might not do it again next time, and if they leave, c'est la vie. They can have fun gaming elsewhere. This at the end of the day is their personal choice, they aren't banned from eGO or other servers with a CTBan, when they could've been.

I'm not ban hungry or power hungry. I just want CTBans to amount to something. It needs some fangs.

I'm in favor of this, I also think that 15 minutes for nearly all CT offenses is too lenient. Encouraging admins to be more generous with the ban times, and increasing the ban cap to something like 2 hours would be great.

However, if someone "should" be banned for anything more than 2 hours, I'd suggest simply placing a server ban on them instead.

Lastly, I definitely agree with 4g0tt3nSou1 4g0tt3nSou1 here, the ban time should only count online time (being in spec wouldn't count either).

A possible alternative is to swap X rounds, however I think having it based on online time is best.

CTBans were a thing and they were pretty nice, can definitely say people being idiots on CT don't necessarily have to do anything wrong when playing T.

I’m not gonna talk on the ban vs ct ban thought as I’m not staff, but I do like the suggestion that the timer for CT Bans should only tick when the person is playing on T side. I’ve seen plenty people get ct banned, join spectator or leave, then join back shortly after and usually do the same thing. Making them stay and play might change their behavior a bit because the consequences are more severe as they have to spend time actually playing the game to remove the ban.

Accidental MFKs and accidental server disruption happen. We see it literally all the time.

I would like to see CT ban timers only counting down while you are online and on the T side so you cant just leave and go do something else and then come back and join CT right away.

Additionally, I think it would be nice to have a way to see who has been CT banned recently to give repeat offenders longer CT bans.

For example, I just got CT banned for 15 minutes for freekill and that admin leaves. Then another admin gets on and I freekill again. Theoretically I should be CT banned for longer (or even server banned for a day or two if its continuous), but that is not always the case. A console command that lists all CT bans from the last hour or something like that would be great for this.

EDIT: To tie back into the original post - Prae Prae Admins on the server use common sense to judge the situation and act with LENIENCY whenever possible. CT bans longer than an hour shouldn't really ever be necessary with that in mind. If someone accidentally griefs or MFKs and its clear that they are a new player, they typically do not get banned. A hour long CT ban and a message telling the player to look over the server rules is more then sufficient (in my humble opinion) for them to learn and observe the do's and dont's on the servers. Additionally, if an experience player or member of the community (someone with an =(e)= tag, for example) does these things, they are held to a higher standard as they should know better.

In short - mistakes happen. Part of our job as admins is to be able to recognize what is and isn't a mistake when it comes to major rule violations on the servers.
