first time auto-x

well, i finally did it...and i won lol. first time out on the auto-x course and i got a 55.---. i wasnt really competing, cause i was running the novice class. anywho, i have no idea how many people were running novice with me, but i somehow managed to beat them all...i think...i dunno, i was the only novice left at the end of the event when the awards were given out...anywho, my top time for the actual event was a 50.953. the fastest time of the day was a 41.something. i managed to shave it down to a 50.2something on a fun run, which brought me .9 seconds behind my dad...which isnt that bad for me lol. i had to use my moms car (2000 saturn SL i think), which was an automatic (i think i could have done a little faster with my car), so the kick at the beginning was slow, but the acceleration was probably faster than mine...and the handling was a lot better...hurray for ABS !lol i ended up plowing through 4 cones on my very last run, which gave me a horrible ending time of 58.something.

my dad used to do auto-x. he has an 86 Porsche 944 turbo. he also had a Ford Lola (formula style). dont even ask me how he got in that thing, i dont wanna know. there is no room in it.

and i agree, i dont understand how they fit into those things...i was able to watch the porsche cup races yesterday though.. !lol that was fun. one car spun out 5 times on the same corner (3x in a row :| ) it was awesome...and for those who dont understand the concept of auto-x (or auto crossing)..um...you be sad... you...= (

i wish i had a car that could keep up in a race. my cars are too slow. I could probably win in a burnout contest though.

bootz, im with ya on GT4 man, I LOVE THAT GAME! i had the coolest impreza prototype, all customized to the exact specifications for a specific track...its the one you have to win to actually GET the car..i cant remember the name. but i used the chevy truck to win against the lancer !lol if i can find a way to post the replay of it, i will...its beyond hilarious !lol

outbreak, im sure your car isnt as bad as you think. an autocross isnt like an actual race, its just one car at a time, doing the course as fast as you can without knocking over cones. this particular course, each cone and gate was only worth 2 seconds if you missed the gate, or hit a cone..thats where my 58.something came from... !grr stupid cones...

i used my moms car lol. so...i dunno...i have a '95 Ford Escort LX, with a 138k miles (almost 139 now ), so..we'll see how that performs on the next one...what car do you have?

ya, its not necessarily about speed, its how well you can negociate your vehicle. you dont need the best car, just be able to handle it.
