Thank You, Tech and CS2!
Today, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the Tech, and CS2 teams. They have been working tirelessly day and night to bring back our Counter-Strike Servers.
The transition from Source 1 to Source 2 was rough, to say the least, and introduced many technical challenges. Despite the setbacks, the team has been hard at work bringing our brand new servers up to the high quality that our players have come to expect.
We want to thank some special members who went above and beyond in their dedication to us. From the Tech team, we have seen Mooshua , MS ,
jii
, Skle , and Gabe work tirelessly to get us back up and running. From our CS team, contributions from Co-Worker (mapping), milo (admin training), and ShookEagle (events) cannot go unnoticed either.The Tech team worked alongside several other communities and reverse engineers to fix Metamod, one of the many tools required to create our modified servers. SourceMod unfortunately could not be ported quickly due to its heavy reliance on the Source engine. So, the Tech team adopted a C# modding framework called CounterStrikeSharp, which required a complete ground-up rewrite of our plugins. Tech quickly got to work on rewriting MAUL, utility, and game mode plugins for this new system. So far, EdgeGamers' core infrastructure is now happily running on Source 2.
Our CS team released Surf as eGO's first CS2 server while Jailbreak was being worked on in the background. Several members worked on porting over our classic Jailbreak maps to CS2 to give us our familiar gameplay for a beta launch. After working out some kinks, the Jailbreak server was up!
The team continues to work on benefits for our Dedicated Supporters and pushing frequent updates. Be sure to keep an eye out on the forums for future features as well!
Aside from the technical aspects of the servers, we need to thank our admins, who have devoted their time to keeping our servers punk-free and running smoothly.
Lastly, we would like to thank our players the CS casuals, JB enthusiasts, CT mains, Surf addicts, and anyone else who doesn’t fall under either of those categories. Thank you for being patient with us on this journey and transition; it's good to be back. Here's to a bright and beautiful future!
