Counter-Strike Delivered Rule Command and New Admins?

As an Admin having to Admin upon the same question over and over again towards Individuals on our Server is tending to be a pain and a repetitive issue.

Is there any way we can have a Rule Command for CS2 where people can see the rules while in the game. Having the ability for someone to see the rules as being an Admin and recently with new and old players coming in our servers it feels like people tend to spam and harass admins over the smallest things and obviously important things as well. It really sucks when there Is minimal admins online around to begin with in the Early and Later times of the day.

Being an Admin for a long time and being considered a Senior Citizen of eGO, it seems that lately people are really beginning to admin chat for literally everything as It seems if we don't help them out were called out, spammed and possibly reported over were harassed. It is starting to take the fun of being an admin away and has been a big issue for quite some time.

Also, we need to start promoting and or starting to see new faces on admin side as seeing the same faces for like 2-3+ years kind of sucks as some games and servers the admin population is dying, also some admins again are harassed for who they are and how they act.

Agreed, I know a lot of people that deserve eG. On this note I also believe we should become harsher when it comes to admin chat because some people are just weird

HEY! what's wrong with the same old admin faces bozo

On a real note though, I do agree with most of what you say. I play mainly EU friendly times up until early evening for Americans and usually I am on the only admin on. What I have noticed though is that during EU friendly times the players are more regulars and most of the issues you describe are not really a factor. This could be due to the fact that there is usually less players at this time and most of them are regulars who are familiar with the rules and admins.

I also feel like a good portion of the issues you describe are from Ban Evaders who out of spite just try to make life difficult on the server.

I think recruitment has slowed down massively which has impacted the amount of admins we currently have/competent enough to be promoted.

But to be honest, after being an eGO member for 15 years now, this has always and will always be a problem. Admins need to remember that we are players first and admins second. We can't deal with everything and sometimes players need reminding of this also.

P.S - It would be nice to have some useful server messages in chat every now and again, such as a link to the rules, messages regarding restarting game after map change to fix mics and general information regarding up and coming eGO events to try help recruitment.

Unfortunately with being an admin we are putting a lot of weight on your shoulders to help keep our servers clean, and pestering tends to happen a lot towards admins. If for whatever reason you feel like you don’t want to hold this position anymore, all you have to do is tell us.

Keep in mind we trust you guys to handle situations correctly, and as such, you have the permissions to deal with players who are constantly pestering or harassing you even in admin chat.

Regarding the repetitive nature of admining; that is something that is also intrinsically part of being an admin. Yes, an automated chat message could partially help with people learning the rules, but the reality is that most people who already hold common sense learn simply by playing the game and what you, the admins, teach them on the server through warning their misbehaviours.

For promoting admins, all of you, even members, are advised to make a CL (Contact Leadership) post to recommend people for promotions. It helps us within CSLE see it, and gives extra input on players within our community.

Keep in mind we greatly appreciate the work you guys do for the servers and the community, and especially within jailbreak. You are putting in a large amount of work along with tech to keep the server afloat among all the many problems and problem players, and we cannot thank you enough.

milo milo

I think it would be nice to have an automated message pointing to the rules when a player joins for the first time. I'm not sure if the priority for ct's has changed, but from what I remember, it was 60 minutes, which I believe could be a little low to learn the rules.

Also hopefully the new batch of admins could lower the stress of the other admins.

I agree that you are a senior.

No idea on if this is even possible but would a admin chat cooldown help? Whether it’s something an admin can toggle or not. Especially for non members as I’d assume those are who cause the majority of problems in admin chat.

I do agree admins should be able to follow the “play first, admin second” motto as well as without you guys having fun you won’t be on. With that being said, there are some admins who notoriously do not answer admin chat under any circumstance.

'Admin Chat Cool-down' on paper seems like a brilliant idea. But in reality it's not great.

For instance; a player types multiple messages to "troll" the admins or try to get the attention of one for whatever reason. Sub-sequentially they are put on 'cool-down'. What happens if a real issue arises and they need to address an admin? They can type that they need help in main chat, but when I was admin trained; if we were addressed in main chat, we would tell them to use admin chat to voice their issue. Obviously this could be ignored and we can help them out anyway but a second issue comes up:

The only way a player can communicate with an admin properly, is through admin chat. Only admins could type private, direct messages to players. With this in mind, a third problem would come up. Depending on how many messages are sent back and forth and if this suggestion were to put into place; if the timer was set to 3 seconds before its labeled as 'spam', then that would cause a cool-down, making the complaint take longer to investigate, reprimand, and solve.

Unless we were to make it as to when someone types to admin chat, a certain amount of messages in a certain time frame could warrant a cool-down. But that amount of coding and processing to make sure that it works and is not easy to bypass and have no loopholes, would be very overwhelming in my opinion.

A toggle-able cool-down could work on the other hand.

Apologies for the essay and rambling. It's a great idea and great to see the suggestion nonetheless.

I 100% understand what you are saying. Unfortunately I think this would cause a huge grey area which could potentially lead to problems. I would say to your troll example, karma has a funny way of working itself out sometimes but there would 100% be an instance it would be an actual problem

Not sure how to even begin implementing it either and as you said it would be a coding nightmare and there would definitely be better things for people to spend their time on. I love the idea on the toggle-able option though! I would add that the person who gets it toggled should receive some sort of a message saying it has been toggled to combat admins abusing (which 99.99999% of them would not).

There is steps to avoid it as well. Muting, kicking, temp-banning. Obviously some are a little harsh but it's relative to how persistent the player is. But yes, that could be something to look into possibly implementing!
