I know of a rumor that there was a map before the TNT, supposedly with a bedrock spawn/jail, but I have no personal knowledge of it and the forum history only goes back to 2011 so if someone might know more feel free to fill in the blank

I just wanted to make this post to reflect just how long this smaller part of EdgeGamers has gone on, and to thank all the people who have punched trees, mined, built, attended events, and/or just hung out in the evening to play together! A special thank you to every person who stepped up to lead this server so far, given how fussy minecraft is with Tech and just how many resets and updates the server has gone through. I still remember when I was brand new to the server being run by the team of BGWarrior, Cyprias, MattwithaCat, and KamikazeTommy. Funny how all these years later another person with a cat related name was in leadership!

To anyone who has not played on the server before or not been on in a serveral years, I encourage you to join the server and take a look at some of the great features the 1.21 server has that leadership spent their time and effort to build and implement, including the spawn, events (murder mystery, anvil drop, ant hill, spleef), quests (/quests in chat) including an ABC questline to collect 1 of every item in the game, which in the 4 months the map has been online not 1 person has finished yet because of how rare some items are, and the [info] board in spawn has more in-depth knowledge of some other features

I don't know the correct way to word this, but I do not have the time or commitment anymore to be able to help the minecraft server thrive, but the least I can do is part ways on a positive note, the idea of EdgeGamers is great and I am glad to have been a part of this community for the past 13ish years.

With that said, feel free to use this post to share long lost memories, pictures, talk about ideas to improve the server, etc...

Thank you,
-idk_lobsters

PS I still miss you Cyprias

EGO Minecraft impacted my life in more ways than I can explain. This server, and this community, are really a special place.

I can remember spending countless hours (more than probably healthy) as a 13-17 year old on this server. I can still remember trying to join EGO a month before my 13th birthday, and of course being denied because of COPPA laws, but then by the time I was 15 being an EC Manager.

This server did and will continue to have so much potential, inspiration, and drive with the right group of people leading it. I believe that’s what made our server so successful, and one day can continue to do so. I saw this passion with the leaders since the time I left until now, and it’s inspiring to see new ideas, continuing to push the envelope, and wanting the best for this community.

One thing that I came across that got me thinking is StampyLongNose’s YouTube channel. This is a classic example where the original audience grew up, comes back for nostalgia, but inevitably grew out of a phase. Stampy never changed who he was, but the people around him, naturally, changed who they were because they grew up, had new interests, and found other channels. This server can potentially be seen in the same way. The server still has so much potential, but the people around the server found new interests, and found different paths in life. With the right people, you can tap in to a new audience and find new light in the server to invigorate the next generation of this community and leaders.

I will have to load up the old computer and log onto the server. For me, it will be for nostalgia, but I hope we can continue to give gamers experience to have memories that will never be forgotten.

Lobs, I believe at the time of my first appearance in EGO Minecraft you were the Community Manager. You have been a staple in this community, a wonderful leader, and have genuinely wanted the best for everyone here. It’s leaders like you why EGO has been so successful and a community like none other. I wish you well, and I hope to see you around sometime. If it wasn’t for your leadership, I don’t know if I would be here posting this right now. I might not have ever stuck on the server without the wonderful things you’ve done to encourage, and excell this community to new levels.

I loved that downtown area we built in the top pic. I believe the high rise in the background was the eGO executive building.
